The Coupang Play series ‘Adultery Is Not the Problem Right Now’ (director: Lee Chang-hee | screenplay: Jeong Eun-kyung, Park Su-rin | starring: Kim Hye-soo, Jo Yeo-jeong, Kim Ji-hoon, Kim Jae-cheol) announced its production confirmation and unveiled a casting lineup that boasts an overwhelming presence by name alone.
The Coupang Play series ‘Adultery Is Not the Problem Right Now’ is a runaway chain-collision black comedy in which a popular influencer couple who have been selling the image of a happy family and the doctor couple next door, embroiled in a mud-slinging divorce suit, become entangled by an unmanageable secret that makes even adultery seem trivial.
For the cast, leading Korean actors who have built irreplaceable careers in their respective fields have gathered in one place. Kim Hye-soo, who has proven her unrivaled presence and commanding acting with a new transformation in every project, including the film ‘Smugglers’ and the dramas ‘Trigger’ and ‘Under the Queen’s Umbrella’, plays ‘Gyeong-hee’, the CEO of an interior design company and a popular influencer thirsty for greater success.
Jo Yeo-jeong, who has showcased impactful performances with intense, multi-dimensional characters in the films ‘Zombie Daughter’, ‘Hidden Face’, ‘Parasite’, and the drama ‘Made in Korea’, plays ‘Soo-jung’, a neighbor who lives across from ‘Gyeong-hee’ and a dermatologist who endures everything to protect the only daughter left by her side.

Kim Ji-hoon, who has worked across genres in the dramas ‘Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area’ and ‘Spiteful Love’, the global project ‘Butterfly’, and the variety show ‘Crime Scene Zero’, plays ‘Jae-hong’, ‘Gyeong-hee’s husband and an actor living in the shadow of his successful wife.
Kim Jae-cheol, who left a mark with ten million moviegoers through the film ‘Pamyo’ and has displayed a wide acting spectrum in dramas such as ‘Spiteful Love’ and ‘Love on a Single-Log Bridge’, will add intense energy as ‘Bo-seong’, ‘Soo-jung’s ex-husband who will stop at nothing to regain custody of their daughter.
The four actors, whose names alone draw attention, may seem entangled by an affair, but as the secrets hidden beneath the surface are revealed one by one, they are swept into a whirlpool of unpredictable events. Through performances that ignite each character’s desires, anticipation is focused on the weighty synergy the four will create.
At the script reading held alongside the production confirmation, the actors quickly found their rhythm, delivering immersion reminiscent of an actual shoot. Word is that the project’s tone emerged distinctly amid lines where taut tension and laughter intersected.

After finishing the reading, Kim Hye-soo said, “Everything was unique. The way the story unfolds, as well as the individuality of the characters and their ensemble, was fun,” and Jo Yeo-jeong shared, “A precarious farce that unfolds based on a single incident develops thrillingly through the actors’ chemistry. Please look forward to it.”
Kim Ji-hoon said, “The stories were interesting, and I liked the fresh feeling that they were not clichd. I will work hard so that the set can remain enjoyable through the final day of shooting,” while Kim Jae-cheol also added, “I will strive to deliver to you the thrill I felt when I read the script. Please look forward to the acting pageant of diverse characters that will unfold within director Lee Chang-hee’s world. We will return with a good project.”
Direction is by director Lee Chang-hee, who has been recognized for his distinctive sensibilities through the dramas ‘A Killer Paradox’, ‘Strangers from Hell’, and the film ‘The Vanished’. Based on Lee Chang-hee’s signature direction that densely unravels solid narratives and character relationships, the texture of black comedy is expected to be completed with an even more polished rhythm.
Production is by Firstman Studio, co-founded by director Hwang Dong-hyuk and producer Kim Ji-yeon, who sparked a global syndrome with the ‘Squid Game’ series. In particular, Hwang Dong-hyuk will lend further strength to the overall completeness of the work as showrunner and producer.
