KBS2 Saturday-Sunday miniseries drama ‘Beloved Thief’
Actor Ha Seok-jin, in the KBS2 Saturday-Sunday miniseries drama ‘Beloved Thief’, fully embodies the narrative of Joseon king ‘Lee Gyu’, driving the immersion of the story to a peak.
In the story, the ‘Lee Gyu’ played by Ha Seok-jin is a figure who hides a chilling madness behind an indifferent demeanor.
To hide the deficiency of being the son of the deposed Queen Kim, he wore the mask of a ‘sage king’ during his crown prince days, but after ascending the throne he unleashed long-repressed feelings and transformed into a tyrant.
From his crown prince days, when he craftily exploited his intelligence, to the image of a cold monarch who purges ministers, Ha Seok-jin moves fluidly through the complex psychology of the character, heightening tension. In particular, it is noted that he depicts the arc of the character with depth, grounded in mastery accumulated through many years of acting.
His agency stated, “The acting ability of Ha Seok-jin, honed through numerous works, is being displayed with even greater depth through the character ‘Lee Gyu’”, and, “Please verify the true value of Ha Seok-jin, who is perfectly delivering the three-dimensional emotional line hidden behind the image of a tyrant”.
Expectations are rising for what kind of acting leap actor Ha Seok-jin, who is presenting performances that enhance immersion each episode, will achieve through this work.
