Comedian Lee Su-ji suffered humiliation over her weight.
In episode 2 of MBC “Manitto Club” aired on the 8th, Lee Su-ji chatted with a taxi driver while on her way to buy a gift for Jenny.
After she delivered the gift to Jenny, Lee got into a taxi to continue on. As the taxi driver imitated the way Santa Claus talks, Lee asked, “Which comedian do you like?” In response, the driver began naming famous comedians one by one, saying, “Back in the day, Lee Kyung-kyu; these days, Kang Ho-dong and Yoo Jae-suk.”
When her own name did not come up, Lee inserted it herself, saying “Lee Su-ji!” The taxi driver asked, “The one who is a bit chubby?” Lee said, “I have seen her in person, and she is not that fat.” Watching her reaction, the driver asked cautiously, “Oh, right. Wait, is Lee Su-ji here with us?”
In response, Lee pointed to a staff member in the front passenger seat and made an excuse that the staffer wanted to become a comedian like Lee Su-ji. She then asked the taxi driver how old he thought she was and whether she looked more like a man or a woman. The driver said he was not sure and asked if she was a man, which pleased Lee.
Meanwhile, in an interview last year, Lee mentioned a comment wondering whether the 48 kg listed for her alter ego ‘Egennyeo’ was simply her real weight with the digits swapped, and she said “That is accurate,” drawing laughter.
