Lee Ji-hye of the musical ‘Anna Karenina’ has unveiled a pictorial that captures alluring poise and elegant charm.
On the 9th, the pictorial cuts and an interview with Lee Ji-hye in the February issue of the performing-arts culture magazine ‘Theater Plus’ were released.
This pictorial fully encapsulates the emotions Lee Ji-hye feels as she returns as the protagonist ‘Anna Karenina’ after meeting audiences in previous seasons as ‘Kitty’ and ‘Patty’, along with a more mature aura as an actor.
In the photos, Lee Ji-hye commands attention with styling that offers a modern reinterpretation of the splendor of 19th-century Russian aristocratic society.

Lee Ji-hye’s deep gaze faithfully reflects Anna’s lonely inner world as she moves between love and tragedy, leaving a lingering afterglow.
In the interview conducted alongside the shoot, Lee Ji-hye revealed an exceptional affection for the work and profound insight.
Regarding taking on all three characters‘Anna Karenina’, ‘Kitty’, and ‘Patty’in a single production, she shared her thoughts: “It is truly an honor,” and continued, “As a time arrived when I could understand Anna’s heart, I began to feel a desire to take on this role.
I thought that if I were to meet Anna around now, I could portray her in my own colors” she said, revealing her confidence.

In particular, about the character Anna, she said, “I think she is someone whom the times could not accept; a person more honest with her own emotions than anyone, and someone who was honest in the face of love,” and added, “Anna did her utmost to the very end regarding her choices, and she fully accepted the life that followed from those choices.
By the end of the drama, even if she might have felt that all of this was futile, if she had loved passionately and been sincerely loved, she would have felt it was a life of sufficient value” she conveyed, heightening expectations for the character she will express in the performance.
Also, as a vocal major, Lee Ji-hye recalled her burning passion during the 2018 premiere, when she practiced Russian lyrics and sent a recording to challenge the role of ‘Patty’, confessing, “I had a yearning for the prima donna on stage and cried out that I wanted to audition.”
She also reminisced about surprising her fellow actors at the time by singing on the spot in the rehearsal room.

Alongside this, now marking her 14th year since debut, Lee Ji-hye left a strong impression as she shared her philosophy: “Actors are people who practice the art of the moment, so if you are not alive in each moment, everything becomes fake.”
The musical ‘Anna Karenina’, in which Lee Ji-hye appears, is a mega-hit based on Tolstoy’s original novel, depicting issues of love, marriage, and family through grand musical numbers and spectacular staging.
It has been praised for realistically portraying the customs of 19th-century Russian aristocratic society while achieving both artistic depth and popular appeal.
Returning after seven years with an upgraded production for this third season, the cast includes Ock Joo-hyun, Kim So-hyang, Lee Ji-hye, Yoon Hyung-ryeol, Moon Yu-gang, Jeong Seung-won, Lee Geon-myung, and Min Young-gi, among others.

Meanwhile, the musical ‘Anna Karenina’ will open on February 20 at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center in Seoul and run for just five weeks until March 29.
