Actor Kim Byung-se personally revealed the reason he had been absent from broadcasts for a while.

On the 5th, the YouTube channel "Byung-se World" released a video titled "The 'Jang Dong-gun of morning dramas' who suddenly disappeared one day." In the video, Kim Byung-se calmly recounted his hiatus and the background of settling in the United States.

He cited the 2018 MBC drama "Rich Family's Son" as his last Korean project and reflected, "So much happened in 2018, and it was the year that became a turning point in my life." In April of the same year, he received news that his mother, who was in the United States, had passed away, but he confessed that he could not attend the funeral because he was in the middle of filming. He explained that only after the drama ended in October did he plan to visit the United States for a short time.

The unplanned extension of his stay continued by chance. Bringing up a story about the U.S. lottery, Kim said, "I didn't win, but my older brother jokingly said, 'Stay another week before you go.' So I just stayed longer." In the meantime, marriage came up during a meal with an acquaintance, and what started as a joke led to an actual introduction, he said.

About his first meeting with his current wife, he recalled, "I saw a halo. It felt like a fairy, an angel descending," and added, "No word like fate or destiny could describe it." Even after returning to Korea, he could not settle his feelings, and he ultimately chose to head back to the United States, he said.

The two quickly grew close. Kim said, "I proposed in Korea 90 days after we met. I was convinced that if not now, we might never get married." He added, "After that, I prioritized my wife's work and settled in the United States, and naturally I grew distant from work in Korea." The two married in 2019.

He was candid about his current life as well. Kim said, "Thanks to reruns, some people still remember me, but younger people probably hardly know me," and added, "I do feel regret about not appearing on broadcasts, but I don't feel burdened." He continued, "If conditions allow, I want to work in the field anytime. If there's an opportunity in Korea, I'm willing to go."

Meanwhile, Kim Byung-se made his debut with the film "Western Avenue" and became known by appearing in various films and dramas such as "Hur Jun," "Bad Women," and "Age of Warriors." In particular, he often appeared in morning dramas and even earned the nickname "the Jang Dong-gun of morning dramas."
