The bereaved family expressed anger over reports regarding the inheritance of Seo Hee-won (Xu Xiyuan), the wife of singer Koo Jun-yeop.

On the 10th, the younger sister of the deceased, also an actor, Seo Hee-je (Xu Xidi), said, “People who spread rumors are truly malicious and have dirty thoughts,” expressing anger. She said, “Her brother-in-law gave my older sister pure love and enabled her to enjoy genuine happiness. We are always grateful to him.”

Emphasizing that “Koo Jun-yeop is our family,” Seo Hee-je urged, “Please do not spread rumors.”

Earlier that day, several outlets including Taiwan broadcaster TVBS reported, “A claim emerged that the mother of Seo Hee-won hired a lawyer to block the inheritance by Koo Jun-yeop.” The reports could be read as implying that Koo married for the sake of the assets of his late wife.

Earlier, Koo Jun-yeop said, “All of the inheritance is the precious fruit that Hee-won achieved for her family,” and he also expressed his intention to transfer his legal inheritance rights to the mother of Seo Hee-won.

Koo Jun-yeop and Seo Hee-won dated in 1998 when Koo was active as Clon, but they had to part ways. After more than twenty years apart, following the end of the marriage of Seo Hee-won, they reunited amid the COVID-19 pandemic and married in 2022.

Their reunion story moved the public, but in February last year, Seo Hee-won suddenly passed away from acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan, leaving many saddened.
