Krafton unveils ‘Project Windless’ trailer and development log
Krafton’s development studio, Krafton Montreal Studio, has unveiled ‘Project Windless’ (Project Windless), which is currently in development.
On the 13th, Krafton revealed the official trailer for ‘Project Windless’ through PlayStation’s digital showcase, ‘State of Play’.
‘Project Windless’ is a game being produced based on the universe of author Lee Young-do’s fantasy novel, ‘The Bird That Drinks Tears’. Set roughly 1,500 years before the original timeline, the trailer captures the project’s scale and atmosphere through majestic continental landscapes and pulse-pounding combat scenes.
The protagonist is the mythic ‘Hero-King’ of the Rekon race. In the trailer, the Hero-King dominates the battlefield, wielding two swords forged from star-iron and unleashing a piercing battle cry. It also delivers visual wonder by blending a vast open world that fuses Eastern and Western aesthetics with mysterious beings such as the colossal sky-swimming creature ‘Haneulchi’.
Patrick Mete, head of Krafton Montreal Studio, said, “It is a meaningful moment as the fantastical world that long existed only as sentences in a novel finally meets gamers,” adding, ”We aim to fully inherit the depth of an IP loved for over 20 years while finding the optimal balance between the depth expected by fans of the original and the fun of the game as an experience for gamers.”
Meanwhile, the first developer diary video chronicling the project’s production journey was also released via the official YouTube channel. In the video, key developers, including head Patrick Mete, appear to share the core values and development vision that ‘Project Windless’ pursues.
Development of ‘Project Windless’ is led by Krafton Montreal Studio and is being carried out in collaboration with Krafton’s Pangyo team. It will launch on console and PC platforms, with the release schedule to be announced at a later date.
