Netflix ‘Single's Inferno 5’ screencap.
The production team of ‘Single's Inferno 5’ expressed their gratitude toward Choi Mi-na-su.
On the 13th, PDs Kim Jae-won, Kim Jung-hyun, and Park Su-ji, who directed the Netflix show ‘Single's Inferno 5’, held an interview with OSEN.
According to the interview, PD Kim Jae-won mentioned Choi Mi-na-su's performance, saying, “The response feels extremely positive. It is all thanks to Choi Mi-na-su.” He added, “At a team dinner, I even offered a deep traditional bow as a gesture of thanks. I decided to treat everyone to a really expensive meal,” expressing exceptional gratitude.
He also described Choi Mi-na-su's actual personality. “Contrary to the image seen on the surface, she also has a shy side, and perhaps because she was born abroad, she is bright and cheerful,” and “When I performed a deep bow, she shyly returned the bow. Every time we meet, I get the feeling that she is charming and fun,” he said.
He also addressed criticism from some viewers during the broadcast. PD Kim Jae-won said, “Choi Mi-na-su never blamed the production team. However, we shared updates over occasional phone calls, asking, ‘When will the public sentiment get better?’” and “Around the third week, I told her, ‘Check the internet,’ but that was a miscalculation. From the fourth week, the sentiment improved,” adding that as reactions like ‘It was fun thanks to Mi-na-su’ emerged, it seems she has recovered a lot as well.
Meanwhile, on ‘Single's Inferno 5’, Choi Mi-na-su quickly rose to the center of attention by heightening the show's tension through a complex web of emotions involving multiple male contestants, including Hyun-woo, Seong-hun, Seung-il, and Su-bin. By forming a so-called ‘four-way dynamic’, she simultaneously received evaluations as a ‘reed character’ and a ‘standout villain’.
In the process, Choi Mi-na-su received a blunt remark from Kim Min-ji, who said, “It seems you do not know yourself,” and she even shed tears. However, she candidly shared her thoughts, saying, “I know I may look like a reed. However, different people draw out different sides of me, and among them I wanted to choose for myself which version of me I prefer.”
In the end, at the moment of the final choice, Choi Mi-na-su chose Seong-hun, who had consistently approached her until the very end. She confessed her true feelings, saying, “When I am with you, the version of myself that I like comes out,” and “I cannot imagine leaving this place with anyone other than you.”
