On MBC ‘Radio Star’, actor Uhm Ji-won reveals a story of ending up bleeding because of a single remark from ‘know-it-all’ Kim Dong-wan. Her account of piercing her tongue for health(?) and even receiving an injection into the white of her eye makes the MCs shudder.
MBC ‘Radio Star’ (planned by Choi Yoon-jung, directed by Yoon Hye-jin, Hwang Yoon-sang, and Byun Da-hee), airing at 10 p.m. on Wednesday the 18th, will be a special titled ‘Thumbs Up 2026! Grabbing the tail end of this Seol~’ featuring Uhm Ji-won, Choi Dae-chul, Kim Jo-han, and Honorary Briton (Baek Jin-kyung).
In a pre-released video, Uhm Ji-won mentions Kim Dong-wan, with whom she performed as her brother-in-law in the drama ‘Please Take Care of the Eagle Five Brothers!’, and shares how a single comment from him led her to see blood.

Upon hearing on the drama set that ‘know-it-all’ Kim Dong-wan had his tongue lanced to let out blood and then felt better, Uhm Ji-won says she went to get her own tongue lanced as well, startling everyone. Interested in folk remedies, Uhm vividly recounts what she experienced during the treatment, drawing everyone's attention.
Uhm Ji-won says, “They prick under the tongue with a needle and collect the blood in a paper cup,” explaining that the blood was ‘stagnant blood’. She adds, “It was scary, but there was a strange sense of pleasure.” At her recommendation after this eye-opening experience, her colleague Choi Dae-chul admits he went to the same clinic for treatment, prompting laughter.
Uhm also shares an episode of visiting a hospital when her eyes became bloodshot from lack of sleep. As eye drops did not improve the condition, she says, “They injected directly into the white of the eye,” leaving the studio abuzz.
Uhm Ji-won’s blood-spattered tale, reminiscent of a thriller film scene, can be seen on ‘Radio Star’ airing today (the 18th) at 10 p.m.
