Park Jin-hee has thrown herself into uncovering the truth behind her older sister's death.
In episode 6 of KBS 2TV's daily drama 'Red Pearl' (directed by Kim Seong-geun / written by Kim Seo-jeong / produced by DK E&M, Monster Union), which aired last night (the 2nd), Kim Dan-hee (played by Park Jin-hee) and Baek Jun-gi (played by Nam Seong-jin) reunited after more than 20 years. Baek Jun-gi revealed to Kim Dan-hee that he has a blood trace left by the culprit who killed her sister, serving as a trigger for revenge and keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The broadcast's ratings hit 9.5% (provided by Nielsen Korea, nationwide households), marking a series high and powering along an unrestrained upward trajectory.
Yesterday's episode showed that some 20 years have passed since Kim Dan-hee entered Adel. Now a director at Adel Group, she solidified her footing within the company while running events. Despite her outstanding ability, she stood firm and confident in the face of those who looked down on her for being a 'second'. In particular, to protect her nephew Park Min-jun (played by Kim Gyeong-bo), she was thoroughly vigilant even at home and, despite checks from company executives, studied gem appraisal, displaying a steely resolve that moved viewers.
Kim Dan-hee also received a business card for the clandestine matchmaker 'Ihwachae', which discreetly arranges marriages across political and business circles, from a certain madam, heightening curiosity about incidents to come. By contrast, Oh Jeong-ran (played by Kim Hee-jeong), frustrated by her situation compared with the flourishing Kim Dan-hee, erupted in inferiority and took out her hysteria on employees. Learning of this behavior, Park Tae-ho (played by Choi Jae-seong), enraged, ordered the belongings of Oh Jeong-ran and her son Park Hyun-jun (played by Kang Da-bin) moved to the annex. Unlike the impatient Oh Jeong-ran, whose position was slipping, Park Hyun-jun calmly soothed his mother and drew attention by appearing indifferent to the group's management rights.
Meanwhile, Baek Jin-ju (played by Nam Sang-ji) and Park Min-jun spent a special birthday. Born at the same date and time, the two expressed their feelings for each other. Baek Jin-ju confessed, "I liked you from the moment we first met. It felt as if I had known you for a very long time," hinting that the tender bond between the two children that began over 20 years ago will develop into a full-fledged romance.
In the meantime, unable to contain her anger at being driven to the annex, Oh Jeong-ran caused a scene by confronting Kim Dan-hee after the event ended. Amid the commotion, Baek Jun-gi (played by Nam Seong-jin), who had returned to Korea, heard the name 'Kim Myeong-hee', recognized Kim Dan-hee, approached her, and handed over his business card. He added the meaningful remark, "Contact me if you need a witness," heightening the tension.
Kim Dan-hee also recognized Baek Jun-gi at once and sensed that he had truths to convey. However, due to Park Tae-ho's strict surveillance, a rendezvous was not easy, so she devised a meticulous plan to meet Baek Jun-gi in secret by using the previously introduced 'Ihwachae' as the meeting place to avoid Park Tae-ho's notice.
At last, the two reunited at 'Ihwachae'. Baek Jun-gi divulged the shocking fact that evidence from the past incident remains. Hearing that he has everything from proof that her sister was murdered to the culprit's bloodstain, Kim Dan-hee was thrown into turmoil, with the overwhelming hope of resolving her 20-year-long grief mixing with surprise. However, Oh Jeong-ran appeared to be secretly eavesdropping outside the door, driving immersion to its peak with an unpredictable storm about to unfold.
Viewers who watched the broadcast reacted passionately, saying things such as, "Dan-hee has really had a hard life", "Min-jun and Hyun-jun seem to get along", "Jin-ju is so harmless.
