Having wrapped up his activities as ‘Chungju Man’, Kim Seon-tae has begun a new life as a YouTuber. In just one day, he drew more than 300,000 subscribers, proving his exceptional popularity.

On the 3rd, Kim Seon-tae launched a YouTube channel under his own name and outlined his plans. First, he said, “It looked as if I was being forced out against my intention, but that is not the case at all.”

He continued, “What hurt me so much was people cursing civil servants of Chungju City and civil servants in general; I understand they meant to stand up for me, but that also pained me,” adding, “I was absolutely not ‘ostracized,’ and the city hall officials helped me a lot.”

He went on, “The fundamental reason I came to consider resigning is, honestly, I had done my part,” and said, “(Chungju City YouTube channel subscribers) around one million meant I had done my duty.”

After resigning, Kim said, “Offers came from various places,” and, “I received many generous proposals and agonized over them. In the end, I wanted to try working freely.”

He also said, “So that’s actually why I started YouTube. Isn’t this the only thing I can do?” and, “The biggest reason for leaving was that I wanted to make more money. Before I get older, I wanted to showcase more of my capabilities.”

As a Chungju City administrative officer, Kim used distinctive direction to raise the city’s YouTube channel subscribers to one million. He submitted his resignation to the city’s personnel department on the 13th of last month and was processed as a voluntary resignation on the 28th of last month.

After his resignation, there was various speculation about Kim Seon-tae’s next move. In particular, after it became known that he visited Cheong Wa Dae on the 19th of last month, some predicted he would go there.

Within a day of launching his YouTube channel (as of 11 p.m. on the 3rd), Kim Seon-tae surpassed 350,000 subscribers, drawing explosive attention.
