MBN ‘The Active King of Singers 3’
Singer Solji took on a completely different concept, delivering a fresh shock to viewers.
On the March 3 broadcast of MBN’s ‘The Active King of Singers 3’, Solji left a strong impression by unveiling a side she had never shown before through the Finals Round 1 ‘Great Battle of New Songs’ stage.
That day’s Finals Round 1 ‘Great Battle of New Songs’ was a mission stage built around each composer’s new song. Solji performed the new track ‘Giga Joha’ by hitmaker composer Yoon Il-sang. Before taking the stage, she revealed her special resolve and excitement, saying, “As a singer, I really wanted to perform a senior’s song.”
Wearing a striking red mini dress, Solji erupted with explosive energy the moment the performance began. In addition to her powerful vocals, her bold choreography and expressive facial acting revealed a completely different charm from before.
In particular, building on her characteristically solid vocals, she delivered a polished performance, proving herself an all-rounder who does not remain merely a ‘vocalist’.
Immediately after the performance, the judges’ praise followed. Yoon Myung-sun said, “You decided to let go of yourself, didn’t you? That decision was truly excellent,” offering high praise. Composer Yoon Il-sang also said, “It feels like watching Brown Eyed Girls’ first broadcast,” and added, “I felt the facts on today’s stage. Perfect,” leaving an admiring evaluation.
Placing 4th in the Finals Round 1 results, Solji safely advanced to Finals Round 2. After the contest, she shared on her social media, “I’ve performed on many stages, but I didn’t expect to experience so many new stages in such a short time,” and added, “For me, it’s a big challenge and such a precious experience and gift.”
Through this performance, Solji proved a transformation that exceeds her existing image and an expanded spectrum, heightening anticipation for another side she will show in Finals Round 2.
Meanwhile, MBN’s ‘The Active King of Singers 3’, featuring Solji, airs every Tuesday at 9:50 p.m.
