YG has signaled that it will spend a special year in which the vigorous activities of its flagship artists and the launch of rookie groups happen simultaneously, amplifying anticipation among global music fans.
YG Entertainment posted ‘2026 YG PLAN | YG ANNOUNCEMENT’ on its official blog on the 4th. Alongside an interview with executive producer Yang Hyun-suk outlining this year’s activity plans for its artists, it also revealed a roadmap for the rookie groups currently in preparation.
First, YG conveyed via captions, “We are preparing a new boy group with a target of fall 2026.” Last year, executive producer Yang disclosed that there was a male trainee team with debut in mind, expressing his determination: “We have been continuously exploring and analyzing these trainees. Next year, I definitely want to launch one team.” As a result, YG is expected to unveil its first new boy group in six years since Treasure.
The outline of the four-member rookie girl group Next Monster (working title) has also become clearer. Following Iveli and Chanya, who already showcased fully polished skills through performance and vocal videos last year, it announced that the other two members will be revealed.
In this video, YG delivered news of Big Bang’s 20th-anniversary debut tour and the comebacks of BabyMonster and Treasure. With debut projects for rookie groups proceeding in parallel, the synergy expected as they traverse the K-pop market this year is drawing attention.
In addition, since last year, executive producer Yang Hyun-suk has worked to improve internal systems with goals of shortening album preparation periods and continuously discovering new IP. With all preparations complete, 2026 is expected to be the starting point of that change. YG stated, “We will further refine the results we have prepared so far and bring you joyful news throughout the year,” adding, “Please have high expectations for the artists who will lead the new generation.”
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment has confirmed that it will hold Big Bang’s 20th-anniversary debut tour this year and, based on deep trust, will accompany the members on this tour as part of the YG Family. Executive producer Yang said, “All YG staff will do their utmost to create a perfect and excellent performance.”
