Marking the 16th anniversary of the 4Minute debut, Nam Ji-hyun mentioned giving the members bouquets and conveyed their strong bond. She said “As I run a business, I feel even more grateful to my friends. The members each dropped by once and helped with promotion.”
She then recalled her early experiences after starting acting at the time of her debut. Nam Ji-hyun said “It felt like I experienced in a compressed way what others go through over 20 years” and “When I look at idols these days, I truly think they are amazing. Back then, the environment itself was not easy.”

In particular, she drew attention by sharing an anecdote from her first drama shoot. She said “When I was active with 4Minute and filmed my first drama, the camera director said ‘Ugly X, face the front’.”
Regarding that situation, Nam Ji-hyun explained “Trying to think positively, I went over saying ‘Ugly X coming through’,” and “After the shoot, the director apologized. He did not know I was a 4Minute member and, thinking I was a rookie actor, said he spoke that way to toughen me up.”
At this, Hwang Bo-ra expressed surprise, saying “In this era, that would be a big problem. You are truly remarkable too.”
After this was shared, netizens reacted with comments such as “If the actor is a rookie, does that mean it is okay to swear at them?”, “It is fortunate the times have changed; that is clearly verbal abuse,” and “The apology from the director is even more absurd. Basic courtesy must be kept no matter who the other person is,” criticizing the coercive atmosphere on set at the time.
There were also voices cheering Nam Ji-hyun for her composure, such as “It would not have been easy to brush it off with a smile, that is impressive” and “It is admirable that she took it positively.”
Meanwhile, Nam Ji-hyun debuted in 2009 as part of the five-member girl group 4Minute under Cube Entertainment and received great love with hit songs such as ‘Hot Issue’, ‘Crazy’, and ‘What Is Your Name?’. 4Minute disbanded in 2016, and since then Nam Ji-hyun has switched to acting and continued her career. She is currently active as an actor and also works as a barre·Pilates instructor.
