BLACKPINK’s third mini album [DEADLINE] went straight to No. 1 on the Hanteo monthly album chart just two and a half days after its release.
According to the February monthly album chart announced by Hanteo Chart on the 4th, [DEADLINE] ranked first with sales of 1,468,894 copies. Based on only two and a half days of tallies after its 2 p.m. release on February 27, it reached No. 1 on the monthly chart as well, following the weekly chart.
It also quickly surpassed the sales of the previous release. As of the 3rd, [DEADLINE] had achieved sales of 1,656,977 copies, far exceeding the first-week record (1.54 million) of the second full-length album [BORN PINK]. Considering that this was day five after release, it is a remarkable figure.
The explosive support of fans who had been waiting about three years and five months for a full-group album propelled it to the top of both the weekly and monthly charts. After setting a new record for the highest single-day sales in K-pop girl group history on the day of release, it is also shattering its own best in first-week tallies by opening an overwhelming gap over the previous work.
Earlier, YG said, “Global demand for the album has greatly exceeded initial expectations, and additional production is now underway.” In particular, since BLACKPINK became the first K-pop girl group to achieve ‘double million seller’ status with the previous release [BORN PINK], attention is focused on what new history they will write with [DEADLINE].
Meanwhile, [DEADLINE] has swept iTunes album charts in a cumulative 38 regions. The music video for the title track ‘GO’ has taken the top spot on YouTube Trending worldwide, and in Global Popular Music Videos (2/27~3/1), it has firmly kept the No. 1 throne for three consecutive days.
