KBS Kpop ‘Limousine Service’ screen capture
Yeonjun of the idol group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) captivated viewers with his distinctive vocal tone.
On the 3rd, Yeonjun appeared on ‘Limousine Service’ uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘KBS Kpop’. Starting with ‘Let Me Tell You (feat. Daniela of KATSEYE)’, a track from his first solo album ‘NO LABELS: PART 01’ released last November, he showcased songs across various genres, drawing attention.
Accompanied by piano, Yeonjun performed ‘Let Me Tell You (feat. Daniela of KATSEYE)’. The sweet arrangement and sophisticated voice stood out. Setting aside the moniker ‘K-pop’s representative dancer’, he displayed a contrasting charm as a balladeer with a captivating tone.
Looking back on his recent solo activities, he said, “It was fun and overwhelming to be able to make music that’s my own. It was a precious album through which I found myself.” ‘NO LABELS: PART 01’ entered No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard main albums chart ‘Billboard 200’ and stayed on the chart for two consecutive weeks, marking a meaningful achievement. Asked about plans for ‘PART 02’, he hinted, “We’re preparing it. You’ll likely be able to check it out within the year.” Yeonjun, who also takes part in rap-making and lyric-writing, added, “When writing rap, I try to express myself as creatively as possible. I get a lot of inspiration from films.”
Yeonjun added to his appeal with a variety of cover stages. From Troye Sivan (Troye Sivan)’s ‘TALK ME DOWN’ and Chrisette Michele (Chrisette Michele)’s ‘Love Is You’, which he often sang during his trainee days, to Ra.D (Ra.D)’s ‘I'm In Love’, BIBI’s ‘Bookstore Oppa, Literary Girl’, and Lee Sora’s ‘Just Like the First Feeling’, he confidently delivered songs spanning a wide range of genres.
Host Lee Mujin marveled, saying, “There’s a big difference from the stages I’d seen in the media. I discovered a completely new side.”
Tomorrow X Together, the group Yeonjun belongs to, will make a comeback on April 13 with their 8th mini album ‘7TH YEAR: When the Wind Briefly Stopped in the Thorns”. This is their first group album since all members renewed their contracts with their label BigHit Music last year. The long, lyrical album title brings to mind the distinctive songs they showcased early in their debut, such as ‘One Day, Horns Grew on My Head (CROWN)’ and ‘Waiting for You at Platform 9 and 3/4 (Run Away)’. The title of the new release alone, steeped in the team’s color, is heightening expectations among listeners worldwide.
