The girl group IVE (IVE: An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo) claimed first place on a music show with the new song ‘BLACKHOLE (Blackhole)’.
On the March 4 broadcast of MBC M and MBC every1’s ‘Show! Champion’, IVE lifted the first-place trophy for the first week of March with ‘Blackhole’, a double title track from their second studio album.
With the pre-released double title track ‘BANG BANG’, IVE achieved four music-show trophies last month on Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’, MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’, KBS2’s ‘Music Bank’, and SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’, and by adding a No. 1 with ‘Blackhole’ on ‘Show! Champion’, they brought their second studio album’s total to five wins. Notably, this No. 1 was earned without a broadcast appearance, once again proving IVE’s solid popularity.
Through Starship Entertainment, IVE shared, “We are truly delighted to receive a No. 1 trophy with ‘Blackhole’, and this meaningful gift is all thanks to DIVE (the official fan club name) and their support,” and added, “Thanks to the love shown from the pre-release track ‘BANG BANG’ onward, we are happily promoting ‘Blackhole’ as well. A double title track ‘Blackhole’ from the second studio album ‘REVIVE+ (Revive Plus)’, released on the 23rd of last month, fuses cinematic sound with a shuffle rhythm and carries a message about IVE’s present and their leap toward something greater. With self-driven lyrics such as “If you want it, anything will come true”, it delivers a hopeful message and redefines IVE-style narcissism, earning widespread love at home and abroad.
The performance of the pre-released double title track ‘BANG BANG’ is continuing as well. Since release, ‘BANG BANG’ has swept No. 1 on major domestic music charts’ real-time, Top 100, and daily rankings, achieving a Perfect All-Kill (PAK); as of 8 a.m. on the 5th, it is maintaining those records and firmly holding the top spot. It is also steadily rising on global charts.
Through their second studio album, IVE is following the pre-release ‘BANG BANG’ with stages for ‘Blackhole’, proving a wide musical spectrum. Having lifted the No. 1 trophy with ‘Blackhole’ on ‘Show! Champion’, attention is now focused on the continuation of their dual-track success.
