Young-sook (real name Yang Hyun-ji), a Season 22 cast member of ‘I Am Solo’, spoke directly about her educational background.
On the 5th, the YouTube channel ‘Shin Jung-hwan’s Threego’ released a video titled ‘I Am Solo Season 22 self-proclaimed “cheat character,” the “Aphrodite of the star cafe,” “carol girl” Yang Hyun-ji’. In the video, Season 22’s Young-sook appeared as a guest and showcased her candid talk.
Recalling the time of filming ‘I Am Solo’, she said, “I had a lot of self-love and confidence, but the Season 22 cast members were all so outstanding. After the self-introductions, there wasn’t really a love line.” She continued, “So I thought, ‘I took the plunge to come on, but it’s a bust,’ and at a drinking session I said, ‘Still, I’m pretty, I have a nice figure, and I’m a cheat character,’ as a kind of mental victory, and that scene aired.”
She added, “I was startled watching the broadcast myself. I thought, ‘I look like a crazy X,’” and laughed.
She also addressed the education controversy that arose after the broadcast. She said, “After episode 1 aired, people went wild asking, ‘What college did she go to?’ Some even said, ‘Isn’t it Johns Hopkins?’” She added that in the overheated atmosphere, she missed the timing to clarify.

Young-sook said, “I actually didn’t want to go to college. I wasn’t going to go, but my parents said, ‘We’d still like you to at least graduate from college,’ so later I obtained a four-year certificate of completion through the Academic Credit Bank System at Dongduk Women’s University,” adding, “Since I don’t think college is everything in life, I don’t think I need to diminish myself over that.”
Meanwhile, the misunderstanding surrounding Young-sook’s education began with a post uploaded to an online community during the airing of Season 22. The poster, who claimed to be her high school classmate, wrote to the effect that she came from a well-off family, had a good personality, and held a medical doctorate from Johns Hopkins University.
However, it appears this was speculation by netizens amplified from Young-sook’s confident demeanor, and it is known that she has never directly stated that she graduated from that university.
