Singer WOODZ shared his longing for his late father.

On the tvN show ‘You Quiz on the Block’ aired on the 11th, WOODZ appeared and shared how he suddenly lost his father at age 21.

That day, WOODZ said, “I got a call from my mother and had a strange feeling. When I answered, she said, ‘Do not be surprised, just listen’,” adding, “As soon as I heard that, I thought something was wrong. When I was told that my father had passed away, I said I would go home right away,” he recalled.

His parents divorced when he was in elementary school, and his father lived in the Philippines. He said, “In fact, even now I do not know the exact cause of death. I only know that he passed away overseas, that is, in the Philippines.”

After the sudden sad news, WOODZ had to bring his father to Korea. He said, “I could not bring the body as it was, so I asked for cremation there,” and “Carrying the urn, I visited places across the Philippines where I had spent time with my father, then returned to Korea holding it.”

He continued, “I could not believe that my father, who had been the biggest person to me, was inside a small urn. It did not feel real,” and “At the temple, when sending off my father, they call the name three times, and at that moment I truly felt that he was no longer a person of this world,” he said calmly.

As time went by, his father’s absence felt even greater. WOODZ confessed, “While I was a trainee in Korea, I did not see my father often from my first year of high school,” and “At first it was simply a painful feeling, but as I have grown older and time has passed, the absence of my father feels bigger.”

He then recalled memories of his father. WOODZ said, “My father was full of romance,” and “He said we should ride a motorcycle around the country when I became an adult, and he also suggested getting matching tattoos. I think that romantic spirit of his influenced me as well.”
