Director Jang Hang-jun, who rose to the ranks of ‘ten-million directors’ with the film ‘The Man Who Lives With the King’, shared his thoughts on its box-office success.
On the 11th, the YouTube channel Vivo TV released a video titled ‘Watch your words, Janghang!! The tightwad bragging contest featuring the legendary story that appeared during a phone call with Director Jang Hang-jun’.
In the video, Song Eun-yi and Kim Sook had a phone call with Director Jang Hang-jun, who recently became a ‘ten-million director’ with the film ‘The Man Who Lives With the King’.
At the time of recording, ‘The Man Who Lives With the King’ was on the verge of the 10-million mark. When Kim Sook asked how his wife, the writer Kim Eun-hee, had reacted to the film’s success, Jang said, “My wife and daughter check the numbers every day. They like it so much. It makes me think that in life there are days like this.”

Then, when Kim Sook joked, “While watching ‘The Man Who Lives With the King’, I thought the directing by Hang-jun had run its course,” Jang quipped back, “Did you perhaps not watch it?” drawing laughter. He added playfully, “I feel like Sook will get back at me someday. The film has no genius.”
To this, Kim Sook retorted, “You are a genius even for realizing that,” keeping the cheerful mood going. Song Eun-yi said, “I am very pleased that the distinctive warmth of the director resonated with the public,” offering her congratulations.
Asked if there was anything he wanted to do after surpassing 10 million admissions, Jang answered, “I want to lie down and watch TV without worries.”
Meanwhile, as of the morning of the 12th, ‘The Man Who Lives With the King’ had recorded a cumulative audience of 12.05 million, continuing its strong run.
