The virtual idol SKINZ met and interacted directly with fans in the real world.
Through real-time one-on-one, face-to-face interaction implemented with hologram technology, SKINZ opened a new era of fan experiences in which virtual idols meet fans in physical spaces.
Having recently returned with its first mini album ‘SKINZ IS SKIZN(Skinz Is Skinz)’, SKINZ ran an offline popup on the 6th floor of The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido, Seoul, and on the 14th held the first offline fansign by a virtual idol.
The event was conducted in a one-on-one, face-to-face format that used hologram technology to let the artist and fans make eye contact and converse in real time, drawing attention as a new attempt in the virtual scene and as an example that expands the possibilities of offline communication for virtual idols.
This fansign was the key event that drew the most attention during the popup period and carried added significance as the first offline fansign by a virtual idol. Fans spoke directly with the members rendered via hologram and received autographs, experiencing a new kind of fandom beyond conventional video-centered virtual content.
The first mini album from SKINZ, ‘SKINZ IS SKINZ’, comprises five tracks in total, including the double title tracks ‘Poison Ivy(Poison Ivy)’ and ‘WHY U MAD(Why U Mad)’. The members participated in writing and composing every song, capturing the group’s unique identity and narrative. The album was released on the 11th, and SKINZ is continuing activities through a variety of online and offline content.
Earlier, from March 9 to 15, SKINZ operated a content showroom popup store at The Hyundai Seoul and rolled out comeback-week promotions.
On March 11, the comeback day, it held an ‘open showcase’ by unveiling a live performance on the popup site LED screens, drawing buzz as an unusual event that presented the new song stage not only to fans but also to general visitors. The showcase featured the first live performances of the new release and showcased SKINZ’s deepened musical color.
Having returned with its first mini album, SKINZ plans to continue vigorous activities with diverse online and offline content.
