KBS2 new miniseries ‘Simu-myeon Yeonriri’
Lee Jin-woo and Choi Gyu-ri set the stage for the opening of a bumpy romance between two families turned enemies.
Set to air its first episode at 9:50 p.m. on the 26th, the new KBS 2TV miniseries ‘Simu-myeon Yeonriri’ (directed by Choi Yeon-su / written by Song Jeong-rim, Wang Hye-ji / produced by Sim Story) is a chaotic family reboot healing drama about the truly urban Seong Tae-hoon household that suddenly drops into the pristine yet fierce (?) zone ‘Yeonriri’ and struggles to make a comeback to Seoul.
The ‘Simu-myeon Yeonriri’ team released stills capturing the family of the ‘brand-new rookie’ Seong Tae-hoon (played by Park Sung-woong), who relocates to Yeonriri due to a sudden assignment, and the family of Yeonriri mainstay Im Joo-hyeong (played by Lee Seo-hwan). Even from the stills alone, the intriguing dynamics already stir the desire to tune in live.
Seong Tae-hoon, who has returned to farming in Yeonriri, and Im Joo-hyeong, who has long safeguarded the village, draw attention as they bicker from their first meeting. Seong Tae-hoon jumps into cabbage farming to return to Seoul, but Im Joo-hyeong, the Yeonriri mainstay, keeps him in check with a sharp attitude, clashing with him at every turn. In particular, because the reason Im Joo-hyeong displays hostility toward Seong Tae-hoon is tied to the company ‘Matstory’ that Seong Tae-hoon is with, their nemesis chemistry is expected to keep boosting the fun through the latter half of the drama.
Amid the roller-coaster tales of the two families, their children Seong Ji-cheon (played by Lee Jin-woo) and Im Bo-mi (played by Choi Gyu-ri) feel a strong attraction at first sight and let the flutter build. Yet the two find themselves in a dilemma due to the conflicts between their parents, and fresh stories begin to bloom around the village. Anticipation builds over what ripples their feelings will send through everyday family life and over their Yeonriri-style romance that will set the once peaceful village aquiver.
In addition, Jo Mi-ryeo (played by Lee Soo-kyung), the wife of Seong Tae-hoon, and Nam Hye-seon (played by Nam Gwon-a), the wife of Im Joo-hyeong, will also engage in a war of nerves centered on the Yeonriri women association, injecting vitality into the narrative.
Set to anchor Thursday home viewing, ‘Simu-myeon Yeonriri’ is helmed by director Choi Yeon-su, who co-directed ‘24-Hour Health Club’, ‘Crazy Love’, and ‘Chulsapyo’, and is co-written by writer Song Jeong-rim, who penned ‘Gyeolhonhaja Maengkkong-a!’ and ‘Taepungui Sinbu’, together with writer Wang Hye-ji, who wrote ‘Yeonae Ppajin Romance’.
The new KBS2 miniseries ‘Simu-myeon Yeonriri’ premieres at 9:50 p.m. on March 26.
