‘The 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’ (BIFAN; Executive Director Shin Cheol) The 20th Sponsors Association (Chair Jeong Dae-seong) held an appointment ceremony for new executives and a New Year gathering at Sopung Convention Wedding on the 12th, reaffirming its commitment to a new start for the association and to cooperation for the development of the festival.

Organizing Committee Chair Jang Mi-hee, festival staff, and 224 executives of the 20th Sponsors Association attended the ceremony and gathering, celebrating the launch of the 20th association and sharing ideas on ways to expand support activities during a meaningful time together.

On the day, Bucheon Mayor Jo Yong-ik (BIFAN Organizing Committee Chair) named Sim Bang-sik, CEO of Simtek, as an advisor; appointed Park Geum-ok, head of the NH Nonghyup Bank Bucheon Branch, as an advisory member; and appointed four vice chairs including Senior Vice Chair Kim Ji-yeon and 56 directors as new executives, followed by a presentation ceremony.

To strengthen outreach by the association, the Publicity Committee was expanded and Director Kim Jin-hee was appointed as its chair, and attendees pledged to join forces to ensure the continued growth of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and to enhance its stature as a global film festival.

Jeong Dae-seong, the 20th Sponsors Association Chair, said in his greeting, “I extend a heartfelt welcome and congratulations to the 61 newly appointed executives,” and, keeping pace with BIFAN as it moves toward a new future, pledged, “the Sponsors Association will also serve as a reliable partner and help lead the development of the festival.”

Bucheon Mayor Jo Yong-ik (BIFAN Organizing Committee Chair) said, “I offer great thanks to the festival and the Sponsors Association, which play the most important roles in the cultural ecosystem of Bucheon,” and added, “I hope Bucheon becomes a city that leads the cultural development of Korea.”

Organizing Committee Chair Jang Mi-hee (BIFAN) said, “The growth of BIFAN is an achievement brought about by the backing of the Sponsors Association,” and “We will do our utmost to make another leap and move forward as a world-class film festival.”

Executive Director Shin Cheol (BIFAN) stated, “We intend to prepare major changes for the festival, taking the 30th edition as a milestone,” and added, “We will do our utmost, drawing strength from the support of the 20th Sponsors Association.”

The BIFAN Sponsors Association has contributed to the development of the film industry and local culture by building diverse support activities and networks for the successful staging of the festival. The 20th Sponsors Association likewise plans to expand its role in supporting the festival and advancing the cultural content industry.

The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival is an international festival that has established itself as a world-class genre film festival, and it is regarded as a leading Asian festival that brings together film professionals and audiences from around the globe every year.

The 30th BIFAN will be held across Bucheon from July 2 to 12 for 11 days.
