The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-Young) and the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service (President Lim Jin-Taek) are officially beginning recruitment of participants for the ‘2026 Online ArtE Academy(ArtE Academy)’ to train professionals in arts and culture education.
ArtE Academy is a training program created to enhance the artistic expertise and teaching competencies of professionals in arts and culture education. Among these, the basic training course, ‘Online ArtE Academy’, will run about 80 courses this year and has improved accessibility through a video-based online learning platform so that anyone can participate from anywhere nationwide.
◆ Tailored training for arts educators·teachers·administrative personnel
Online ArtE Academy is operated as a tailored training system that broadly encompasses arts educators, teachers, and administrative personnel who specialize in arts and culture education.
For arts educators, the courses include legally mandated training for school arts instructors and arts and culture education organizations, and are designed to strengthen both field practice and planning capabilities by covering domestic and international trends and cases in arts and culture, as well as methods for planning educational programs. Training for teachers focuses on program operation cases and planning methods for arts and culture education that can be applied in schools by grade level and artistic genre, and will be carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Education’s Comprehensive Education Training Institute and Central Education Training Institute.
For administrative personnel, the courses center on policy trends in arts and culture education and essential administrative competencies, with plans to improve understanding needed for project implementation and on-site support, and to strengthen practical response capabilities.

◆ Sixteen new courses unveiled, including overseas best practices·collaborative training with renowned artists
At Online ArtE Academy, reflecting the changing arts environment and trends, a total of 16 new trainings are being released: ▲overseas arts and culture education cases ▲collaborative training with renowned artists ▲arts and culture education courses for care schools, among others.
First, in the overseas arts and culture education cases, four video trainings will be offered that reflect the latest art·technology convergence trends, covering sound-based arts education and education using artificial intelligence(AI) at overseas arts institutions such as IRCAM in France and Muziekgebouw in the Netherlands.
In addition, four ‘Artist Code’ trainings for emerging arts educators will share the educational philosophies and perspectives of renowned artists, including artist Chu-Su, artist Choi Jeong-Hwa, artist Eom Jeong-Sun, and choreographer Kim Seong-Hun.
Alongside this, eight practice-oriented trainings for professionals in arts and culture education for care schools will also be expanded to support the capacity to operate programs that can be used in schools and local communities.
A Korea Arts and Culture Education Service official said“Online ArtE Academy is a learning platform that helps approximately 30,000 professionals in arts and culture education enhance their expertise without constraints of time and place”, adding, “We will continue to expand a variety of trainings that support capacity building and ongoing career development for professionals in arts and culture education in response to the changing educational environment”.
All courses at Online ArtE Academy are available free of charge. Starting in April, content introducing recommended trainings by theme will be released sequentially, and a variety of engagement programs, including course application events, will also be run.
