Actors Baek Sung-hyun and Park Jung-ah are teaming up in the musical ‘Eyes of Dawn’, drawing enthusiastic responses from audiences.

In this production, which is based on a drama of the same name, the two portray Choi Dae-chi and Yoon Yeo-ok, respectively. Reinterpreting the drama-style narrative in a musical format, they are credited with heightening immersion on the strength of solid acting and vocals.

In particular, Baek anchors the piece with steady acting and delicate emotional expression, while Park elevates the tension with her distinctively compelling vocals and emotive performance. Their rapport creates synergy that draws audiences in, according to ongoing reactions.

Among those who have seen the show, comments such as “Acting and singing blend naturally” and “It feels like watching the drama again on stage” are spreading by word of mouth.

Amid this interest, tickets for the performance on the 22nd are reportedly more than half sold.

After the performance, Park Jung-ah said, “There is a line in the work that says ‘We must survive no matter what’ that appears several times, and we prepared with that level of resolve,” adding, “We practiced intensely for about seven months, and I am grateful and happy that audience members are enjoying it.”

The musical ‘Eyes of Dawn’ is drawing attention as an immersive production that minimizes the distance from the audience by using a 360-degree stage structure and large LED staging. The production team explained, “From the outset, densely layered performances captivate the audience, and a strength is that the actors make free use of the stage and breathe in close proximity with the audience.”

Meanwhile, ‘Eyes of Dawn’ is based on a drama of the same name that aired in 1991 and recorded a peak viewership rating of 58.4%. At its 2019 premiere, it was nominated for Best Production at the Korea Musical Awards, earning recognition for its quality.

The production runs at Converse Stage Arena Yeomyeong in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, through April 26.
