Actor Kwon Hyuk shared sweet behind-the-scenes stories from ‘Your Shining Season’.

On the afternoon of the 7th, Kwon Hyuk met Sports Kyunghyang at the Kyunghyang Shinmun building in Jung-gu, Seoul. Playing Yeon Tae-seok in MBC’s FridaySaturday drama ‘Your Shining Season’ (abbreviated Chan-neogye), Kwon appears opposite Song Ha-young (played by Han Ji-hyun) and, portraying an ‘adult man’ who has quietly harbored a long-time crush on the bubbly younger Song Ha-young, won great affection from viewers.

Among the scenes with Song Ha-young, Kwon chose the confession in the final episode as the most memorable. He said, “From a personal desire, I would have liked him to confess quickly and move things along,” while adding, “I felt it was an emotion Yeon Tae-seok had cherished for a very long time. I thought about how much he must have pondered before saying those words, and also ‘how difficult it must have been’.”

Regarding viewers who wished for more romance scenes with Song Ha-young, Kwon said, “It may be my own wish, but I had imagined scenes like secretly dating at work and then getting caught by the team,” yet added, “The writer told us that, unlike other couples in the story, she hoped the Yeon Tae-seok and Song Ha-young couple would begin at the very end of the drama.”

On the choice in the story where Yeon Tae-seok rejects Song Ha-young’s confession, he revealed, “If I had been Yeon Tae-seok, I think I would have accepted the confession from Song Ha-young right away, so at first it was hard to understand.” He continued, “After much thought, I concluded that Yeon Tae-seok is a person with a strong sense of responsibility and guilt. He seemed to regard her as someone to protect for life rather than as a romantic partner.”

About actress Han Ji-hyun, who played Song Ha-young, he said, “She is truly skilled and a charming actor, so I received a lot of help. Just acting together itself was enjoyable,” and added, “I tend to imagine various things while reading the script, but Han Ji-hyun delivered unexpected performances on set, making my imaginings of no use. I was greatly stimulated in that process.”

He also shared a memorable episode from filming. Kwon said, “In the scene where Song Ha-young misunderstands what Yeon Tae-seok says and replies ‘I like it too’, I struggled to hold back my laughter,” adding, “The situation called for not laughing, but Han Ji-hyun looked at me so cutely while delivering her lines that I found it hard to hold it in.”

Meanwhile, ‘Your Shining Season’, which ended on the 3rd, portrayed a variety of love stories spanning all generationsfrom the love of three sisters to twilight romancecompleting the ‘four seasons of love’.
