TV CHOSUN ‘X’s Private Life’
The ‘Dogfight Couple’ ultimately took a step forward toward a relationship in which they support each other.
In episode 4 of the divorcee position-clarifying reality show TV CHOSUN ‘X’s Private Life’, aired at 10 p.m. on the 7th, the protagonist of the most intense story from ‘Divorce Deliberation Camp’ (hereafter, ‘DRC’), the ‘Dogfight Couple’ member Gil Yeon-ju, appeared in the studio and, together with MCs Kim Gu-raJang Yoon-jeongJung Kyung-miCheon Rok-dam, watched Jin Hyun-geun’s private life after the divorce. In the process, Gil showed displeasure toward Jin, who was making claims 180 degrees different from hers, but when he was shown on a blind date, she said, “I hope he lives well,” offering support and revealing their changed relationship.
That day, Kim Gu-ra greeted Gil Yeon-ju by saying, “You look better,” and Gil quipped back, “(I got better) after the divorce,” drawing laughs from the start. In the ensuing video clip, Jin Hyun-geun revealed a love story that began on a dating app and led to a premarital pregnancy, and confessed that the 50 million won debt he secretly incurred after the wedding was the spark of conflict. In response, Kim Gu-ra said, “The husband was at fault,” but also pointed out Gil Yeon-ju’s overly aggressive way of responding, and Gil coolly acknowledged, “I was just as wrong,” turning the mood around.
However, the rift ran deep. Jin Hyun-geun mentioned marital fights serious enough for the police to come and disclosed the report. The report recorded traces that Gil Yeon-ju had hit Jin, and Gil looked back, saying, “I couldn’t see what was around me.” Kim Gu-ra noted, “In a way, Ms. Gil is closer to the word ‘fighting dog’,” and, seeing that she accepted this, assessed that she had “turned over a new leaf.” In contrast, Jin revealed that Gil’s fondness for alcohol and obsession with cleanliness made married life difficult, and he also disclosed a medical certificate of injury from violence. Kim Gu-ra drew a clear line on violent responses, saying, “If (Ms. Gil) had only responded in moderation, it was a situation in which she could have elicited sympathy, but because of this side of her, she did not receive support.”

On top of this came the belated revelation that Jin Hyun-geun had previously been divorced and had a child. He explained, “(With my ex-wife) it was a relationship that had been settled,” but Kim Gu-ra cautioned, “You still should have said it.” Jin went on to claim, “Gil Yeon-ju suggested appearing on ‘DRC’ to try to make things work, but it felt like she was setting me up as a punching bag.” In the end, the situation did not improve, and Gil Yeon-ju left home with their son and filed an ‘annulment’ lawsuit. Regarding this, Kim Gu-ra asked, “Did you sue because it seemed like a fraudulent marriage?” and Gil revealed, “Yes. But due to the filing-period issue, the annulment was not granted,” surprising the MCs.
The ‘dogfight’ mood briefly eased when Jin Hyun-geun’s daily routine was shown. After clocking off at 4 a.m., he kept up with exercise and reading, to which Gil retorted, “Yeah, right,” eliciting laughter. After a video call with his son, Jin shed tears, saying, “I think when he was little (because his parents fought), he suffered psychological abuse.” Even so, Gil responded realistically: “If you feel sorry to your son, you should come to visitation (more often).” At the visitation site, conflict flared again. With the three finally together, Jin requested, “Please send some photos of our son,” but Gil countered, “If you want to see him, you come see him.” In the end, the two raised their voices and argued, and Gil exploded, saying, “Hey! Did you come here to fight with me right now?” Watching this, the MCs expressed regret: “Can’t you see the child is watching and feeling self-conscious?” Kim Gu-ra summed up the situation: “Mr. Jin, do not insist on having visitation with all three together, and Ms. Gil, please send some photos of your son to (X).”
Later, when it came time to watch ‘X’s blind date’, Gil Yeon-ju even clapped, saying, “This will be fun,” bringing laughter. Jin Hyun-geun said, “My ideal type is someone who can carry a conversation, does not have severe mysophobia, and does not drink,” picking traits that are the complete opposite of Gil, and Kim Gu-ra remarked, “You still have not escaped the shadow of your X.” Seeing Jin frankly disclose at the blind date that he is a divorced single with a child, Gil said with regret, “If you had been open with me from the beginning, I think I would have trusted you and stayed married. We might have done well.” Gil added her support: “In fact, even during the marriage, Jin Hyun-geun was really good at social life. He cooked well and worked hard. I hope he meets a good person and lives well.”
