Jungkook of the group BTS belatedly apologized in connection with the controversy over remarks he made on a live broadcast.
On the 8th, via a Weverse Live session on the fan communication platform, Jungkook addressed the recent controversy over his remarks and spoke directly. He said, "I should apologize to ARMY before I go. Honestly, did I personally do something seriously wrong? I'm not really sure about that," while also saying, "I thought (fans) might have felt uncomfortable."
He said, "Honestly, I'm not a public figure, and I thought these were things people working in this industry all say," adding, "But since I've never shown that side of myself until now, ARMY may have found it uncomfortable. To ARMY who experienced discomfort, I want to say I'm sorry, and I'll refrain."
He continued, "I was in such a good mood that day. We had a comeback, so I think that's why," he added. However, regarding some critical public opinion, he drew a line, saying, "I don't want to say much to people who are busy tearing down anything. Thank you for your interest, and I don't care if I get sued."
Earlier, in a Weverse Live broadcast in February, Jungkook conducted a so-called 'sullabang' (a live done while drunk), drawing attention with his unreserved remarks. At the time, he said, "This could become a controversy, but that's me, so what can you do," showing a candid attitude, and he also vented frustration about the company and his own situation, using expressions mixed with profanity.
He also emphasized, "I'm human. I just want to have fun," and, "I wanted to be honest with ARMY," while also drawing attention by saying, "If it weren't for the company, I would have talked about everything." At the end of the broadcast, he himself mentioned, "It could be controversial," yet continued to speak freely.
Following that live, online reactions were divided between calling it a "human side" and pointing out that he "lacked prudence as an idol."
