A feature-length animated film inspired by the life of the late President Roh Moo-hyun is being produced.

On the 8th, animation studio ㈜Greenwood (CEO: Lee Jeong-Ik) announced it would begin full-scale production of the feature-length animation ‘My President’. The work was selected in 2026 for the Korea Creative Content Agency animation production support program, in the Initial Edition category, receiving recognition for its artistry and planning.

What stands out about ‘My President’ is that it is a human drama that re-examines modern Korean history, using the late President Roh Moo-hyun as its motif.

‘My President’ is a 2D-based theatrical animation running roughly 90 minutes, with planning and development under way for a May 23, 2028 release, marking the 19th anniversary of the passing of the late President Roh Moo-hyun. The team has requested and is receiving related materials from the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, and based on these, it is enhancing the work through more rigorous verification and adaptation.

According to the studio, ‘My President’ aims to be a human drama centered on the life and hardships of an individual who lived through modern Korean history, rather than representing any particular political stance. It portrays poverty and growth in a rural village after the war, and the processes of social conflict and reconciliation, focusing on delivering a universal message that can resonate across generations and ideologies.

㈜Greenwood is a production company with extensive experience in animation, including the TV series ‘Princess Bari (selected in the MBC animation competition)’ and ‘Shinbi Halmang (selected in the KBS animation competition)’, and it has the capability to connect the planning, production, and distribution of its own IP. This ‘My President’ project will also be advanced in stages, from original development to theatrical release, domestic and overseas distribution, and submissions to film festivals.

‘My President’ plans submissions to major domestic and overseas film festivals, including the Busan International Film Festival and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, while expanding as content targeting the global market.

A ㈜Greenwood representative said of ‘My President’, “We will complete it as a work that, by borrowing the form of animation, can deeply resonate with all generations”.

There is anticipation for how the animated film ‘My President’ will depict a narrative in which the life of the late President Roh Moo-hyun intersects with the currents of the times.
