JTBC ‘Hidden Singer 8’ broadcast capture

Singer Younha delivered a moving performance with vocal impersonators on ‘Hidden Singer 8’.

Younha appeared as the second original artist on JTBC’s ‘Hidden Singer 8’, which aired on the 7th.

Younha said, “I was often asked why I had not come on sooner, but you can only appear if there are impersonators,” sharing her excitement. She then revealed that, after failing domestic auditions in the past, she entered Japan thanks to a Japanese drama OST.

Before the contest, Younha stated, “I hope to make it to round three,” then added, “If I reach the final round, I might be able to get about 60 votes. I think it will be more than half.”

She also pledged, “If I get 60 votes or fewer, I will dance to H.O.T.’s ‘We Are The Future’ on Reels,” revealing she had been a fan of Kangta and eliciting laughter. Upon hearing the jinx that each season’s second original artist had been eliminated, Younha became even more nervous.

In round one, after choosing ‘Waiting’, Younha said following the stage, “It felt like meeting the Younha of days gone by. It was fascinating to hear the voices I had gone through up to now.”

In round two, the competition continued with ‘Password 486’. Younha confessed, “My mental state was shaken to the point I could hardly breathe,” showing her surprise at the fierce contest. After the round, she even sang ‘It’s Okay’ on the spot for a fan who was a vocal impersonator, offering warm comfort.

Round three featured ‘We Broke Up Today’. When the identities and stories of the vocal impersonators were revealed, the atmosphere turned emotional, and Younha eventually shed tears at the sincerity of fans who had supported her for a long time.

Younha said, “My life goal is to sing the BGM to someone’s life,” adding, “At every turning point in life, people listen to my songs and thank me, and that makes me feel my reason for being.”

The final fourth round was set to ‘Event Horizon’. The overall winner was decided by just three votes, with a vocal impersonator taking the top spot and Younha finishing runner-up. Sincerely glad for the impersonator’s victory, Younha encouraged them, “You worked so hard. Well done.”

At the end of the broadcast, Younha remarked, “Music is like a health food that heals the soul,” and added, “If that music reaches someone and helps them live on a little more, nothing is more rewarding.” She also shared her thoughts on appearing: “‘Hidden Singer’ is a truly great program. I am so happy. It was a day that felt like a birthday.”

Younha recently released her first remake album ‘Sub Character One (SUB CHARACTER)’, and she is active as the host of Mnet’s digital studio M2’s web variety music talk show ‘Uju Record’.
