Hagiwa of the band Hatswave.
Hagiwa of the rookie band Hatswave (Yoon Young-jun, Rian, Dane, Kayten, Hagiwa) revealed the unique thinking behind setting his birth year as 2022.
At Hatswave’s debut first mini-album ‘The First Wave’ (The First Wave) release showcase, held on the afternoon of the 8th at the T2 indoor performance hall of Oil Tank Culture Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Hagiwa was asked about being set as born in 2022 and answered, “I really am 3 years old. I was born three years ago in the Hagiwa World in Japan, so this face (mask) is accurate.”
He explained, “Although I’m 3 years old, I love drums and music so much that I was able to come to Korea through Mnet ‘Steel Heart Club.’ I’m debuting with Hatswave this time, and I want to let people hear more fun music.”
He continued, “Musically, all I want is to make everyone in the world happy. I said this on ‘Steel Heart Club’ as well, and I think many people understood and accepted it, so I want to keep making music like this and have fun.”
Dane, who was there with him, added, “At first glance, Hagiwa might seem like he would have a hard time fitting in with us, and life might look difficult because he lives wearing a mask, but there is absolutely no problem with his everyday life. Please give him lots of love.”
Hatswave is a global band made up of Yoon Young-jun (keyboard), Rian (vocal), Dane (bass), Kayten (guitar), and Hagiwa (drums), who each took first place in their respective positions on Mnet ‘Steel Heart Club.’ The debut album ‘The First Wave’ carries the meaning that the five members, each with different frequencies, gather to create the first ‘wave’ in a silent world. Including the title track ‘Nineteen’ (NINETEEN), it contains six songs in total: Rian and Dane’s self-composed ‘Eoribeori,’ the racing, fast-tempo ‘Dream’ (Dream), the breakup narrative-infused ‘Highlight’ (Highlight), ‘I Am So Fine’ (I AM SO FINE), and ‘Our Own Story (Close To Me),’ which sings of the first page they will write together with fans. It will be released on online music sites at 6 p.m. today.
