TV Chosun ‘Doctor Shin’

TV Chosun ‘Doctor Shin’ has unveiled the ‘Act 2 viewing points’ that will pour fuel on the ever-expanding, no-limits universe of writer Phoebe.

The weekend miniseries ‘Doctor Shin’ (written by Phoebe (Im Seong-han) / directed by Lee Seung-hun / produced by TME Group and Scene&Studio) is a medical thriller about a genius doctor who challenges the realm of the divine, and a woman whose brain is ruined overnight as her soul slips away. Built around the theme of a ‘brain change,’ the unique, twist-laden storytelling of writer Phoebe is sweeping through ‘Doctor Shin,’ which, in the drama TV-OTT search response for the 4th week of March announced by K-content competitiveness analysis agency Good Data Corporation, held onto TOP2 for two consecutive weeks and swept the upper ranks in cast-related drama search issue keywords, showcasing an untouchable buzz power.

With 16 episodes in total now at the halfway mark, the production team has shared three ‘Act 2 viewing points’ to note before watching Episodes 9 and 10.

▶ Act 2 Viewing Point #1. Shin Ju-shin (Jung Yi-chan) grew furious with Momo (Baek Se-ra), who carries Kim Jin-ju’s (Cheon Young-min) brain! Will he proceed to a third brain surgery with Geum Bara (Joo Se-bin)?!

Genius doctor Shin Ju-shin (Jung Yi-chan) carried out a ‘brain change surgery’ after his fiance, top star Momo (Baek Se-ra), fell into a coma. At first, at the request of his mother-in-law Hyun Ran-hee (Song Ji-in), who could not just watch her daughter Momo’s condition deteriorate, he attempted the brain change surgery and succeeded. But after severe conflict with Momo, who had Hyun Ran-hee’s brain, he performed a second brain change with Kim Jin-ju (Cheon Young-min). However, the pregnant Momo (with Kim Jin-ju’s brain) nonchalantly tossed out, “The baby... I lost it. It was a miscarriage,” and Shin Ju-shin exploded in anger at Momo (with Kim Jin-ju’s brain) both for not telling him about the miscarriage and for insisting on taking the swimming lessons he had opposed, even slapping her. Meanwhile, Shin Ju-shin could not forget the moment he back-hugged Geum Bara (Joo Se-bin) at Ha Yong-jung’s (Ahn Woo-yeon) house, and the more he talked with Geum Bara, the more he fell for her intelligence and boldness. Yet when Shin Ju-shin suggested a brain change involving Momosomething he had kept absolutely secretGeum Bara flatly said, “No.” Curiosity is mounting over whether Shin Ju-shin will attempt a third brain change surgery, and if so, whether the subject will indeed be Geum Bara.

▶ Act 2 Viewing Point #2. Ha Yong-jung (Ahn Woo-yeon) X Geum Bara, is a mutual romance finally beginning?!

After reuniting with Ha Yong-jung, the tender connection who helped her endure her harsh orphanage days, Geum Bara could not show it on the surface but inwardly swallowed her aching longing, thinking, “I missed you, oppa. I yearned so desperately.” Even so, Geum Bara anguished as she pined in unrequited love for Ha Yong-jung, who liked Momo. Completely unaware of Geum Bara’s true feelings, Ha Yong-jung declared absolute affection for Momo, saying, “There is no reason or condition for what you like,” which tormented Geum Bara. Then, in the ending of Episode 8, Ha Yong-jung confessed to Geum Bara, “You are no longer a little kid, and at some point you started approaching me with different feelings,” raising expectations that he may have realized his feelings for Geum Bara and that a two-way romance, not just Geum Bara’s one-sided love, may finally begin.

▶ Act 2 Viewing Point #3. The Momo version of Kim Jin-ju (Cheon Young-min), will she turn dark and run amok?!

Swayed by Shin Ju-shin revealing the truth about Momo as “a once-in-a-lifetime plastic surgery” and by the admiration she had long felt for him, Kim Jin-ju lay on the operating table, woke up in Momo’s appearance, and even shed tears of joy. But living with Momo’s exterior, Kim Jin-ju showed no joy even after confirming her pregnancy and denied it, saying, “I do not want to give birth,” “It is not my child. How could it be my child?” When Shin Ju-shin told her to have the baby, Momo (with Kim Jin-ju’s brain) exulted, thinking, ‘Now am I not the one holding the knife?’ Yet Shin Ju-shin compared the fluent-in-English Geum Bara with Momo (with Kim Jin-ju’s brain), and he sniped that Momo lacked grit. In particular, when Shin Ju-shin slapped her for not telling him about the miscarriage, Momo (with Kim Jin-ju’s brain) stood her ground and pressed him, shouting, “You tell me to become Momo, yet you treat me like the old Kim Jin-ju!” Even in the face of Shin Ju-shin’s razor-sharp warning, Momo (with Kim Jin-ju’s brain) did not even blink and snorted, drawing attention to whether humiliation will drive her to turn dark and go on a rampage.
