Actor Kim Gyu-ri is set to begin full-fledged acting activities with ‘21st Century Royal Consort’.
According to her agency F&F Entertainment, Kim Gyu-ri has been cast in MBC new Friday-Saturday drama ‘21st Century Royal Consort’ (written by Yoo Ji-won/ directed by Park Joon-hwa, Bae Hee-young/ planned by Kang Dae-seon/ produced by MBC and Kakao Entertainment), which will premiere on the 10th.
In the drama, Kim Gyu-ri plays the secretary to Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo (Noh Sang-hyun). The secretary she plays is the person who supports Min Jeong-woo most closely, who possesses a strong sense of responsibility and cool-headedness. Kim Gyu-ri is expected to depict the character in a three-dimensional way with understated acting and in-depth interpretation.
‘21st Century Royal Consort’ is a destiny-forging, status-breaking romance set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy Republic of Korea, between a woman who has everything as a chaebol but is irritated because her status is that of a commoner, and a man who is the king’s son but is sad because he can have nothing. In particular, with a star-studded cast including IU, Byeon Woo-seok, Noh Sang-hyun, and Gong Seung-yeon, it is regarded as one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
Kim Gyu-ri is a rookie building a filmography across multiple fields. She began walking the path of acting in earnest with the 2023 TVING original drama ‘After-School War Activities’. Beyond dramas, Kim Gyu-ri has been making her presence known to the public by working across short films, commercials, and more.
With Kim Gyu-ri steadily expanding her own filmography in this way, expectations are rising for what she will showcase through ‘21st Century Royal Consort’.
MBC ‘21st Century Royal Consort’, in which Kim Gyu-ri has confirmed her appearance, will premiere at 9:40 p.m. on the 10th.
