Actor Hojo has shown another transformation within the expanded narrative of the OTT Netflix series ‘XO, Kitty’.
Released on the 2nd, the Netflix series ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 3 has quickly seized the top spot as it wins over viewers around the globe. According to FlixPatrol, it not only ranked No. 1 in the Global TV category, but also claimed No. 1 in many countries including the United States, once again proving the robust popularity of the series.
‘XO, Kitty’ is a spin-off of the Netflix film ‘To All the Boys I Loved Before’, depicting a growth journey through episodes about life, love, and family centered on ‘Kitty (Anna Cathcart)’, an American teenager studying abroad at a prestigious boarding school in Seoul. Hojo first appeared in Season 2 as ‘Ji-won’, a cousin of Kitty, adding energy to the story.
With this season set during Kitty final year at school, as her reflections on path, relationships, and family deepen, the position and role of ‘Ji-won’ have also become clearer. In this flow, Hojo drew notice by taking her place as a core pillar of the narrative with a more mature performance.
In Season 3 of ‘XO, Kitty’, Ji-won returns as Kitty dorm head and teacher. Forming a new bond that shifts from cousins to a teacher-student relationship, they deliver a different kind of chemistry. At times Kitty places her in difficult situations, but she steadies the flow by doing her part as an older sister figure and as a teacher, firmly guiding Kitty so that she does not forget her duty as a student. In addition, as she leaves her grandmother (played by Jung Hye-sun) and continues a new life in Seoul, she resolves the conflicts she encounters, drawing empathy and support from viewers.
The clarity of Ji-won change and growth stems from Hojo dense, unembellished performance that brings realism to her story. She balanced the character warmth and strength while delicately expressing emotions that shift within new environments and circumstances, adding depth. Her seasoned delivery of lines and flexible control of tempo stood out in particular.
Following Season 2, Hojo again cemented her presence in Season 3. Attention is gathering on her next move, as her deepened performance has once more helped drive the show to global success.
