Seo Hee-je (Xu Xidi), the younger sister of the late Seo Hee-won (Xu Xiyuan), who was married to singer Koo Jun-yeop, returned to broadcasting and shed tears.
On the 6th (local time), Taiwanese outlet ‘EET Today’ reported that “Seo Hee-je had recently returned to the stage as MC of the variety program ‘Sojeo Bulhui-je’.” Seo Hee-je suspended all broadcasting activities in February last year after news of the death of her older sister.
Returning after 1 year and 2 months, Seo Hee-je was said to have sobbed at the scene amid cheers from the audience. She even used profanity as she wept.
Seo Hee-je said, “Do you know why humanity invented swear words? Because there are so many emotions, such as joy, sorrow, and pleasure,” adding, “Perhaps some of you may find it uncomfortable to see me on screen sobbing and falling apart, or trying to be funny even in the midst of sorrow. But whatever the situation, that is, in that moment, my most honest and genuine feeling.”
Koo Jun-yeop first met Seo Hee-won during his activities in Taiwan in the Clone era. However, when Seo Hee-won married Wang Xiaofei, a second-generation Chinese tycoon, in 2011, he had to give up his hopes. In 2021, when Seo Hee-je divorced, Koo Jun-yeop reached out; despite the COVID-19 period, they reunited and married in 2022.
However, on February 2 last year, three years into the marriage, Seo Hee-won died from complications of acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan with her family.
After being bereaved of his wife, Koo Jun-yeop halted all activities, stayed in Taiwan, kept daily vigil at the burial site of Seo Hee-won, the Geumbosan cemetery, and has been honoring his late wife by creating a memorial sculpture. Seo Hee-je likewise suspended her broadcasting activities after her sister's death.
