MBN ‘Unknown Legends’ broadcast screen capture
Singer Lee Do-jin clinched an overwhelming win in the 1:1 death match, securing advancement to the next round.
On episode 7 of MBN ‘Unknown Legends’, which aired on the night of the 8th, Lee Do-jin entered the second main-round 1:1 death match and faced the little-known Jung Yun-young.
Because the two had performed together in the first main-round team battle, tensions mounted even before the start as they stood as opponents. Taking the first turn, Lee Do-jin chose the song ‘Today Is a Young Day’ by Kim Yong-Im, seizing control of the flow from the very beginning. Drawing eyes with a yellow suit and red tie, Lee Do-jin opened with a VCR featuring photos from when he was 20, heightening immersion.
With a lively and catchy performance alongside a line-dance team, he drew enthusiastic responses on site, and the seamless teamwork with the dancers, savvy gestures, and steady live vocals further elevated the overall completeness of the stage. In the ensuing dance break, high-energy, razor-sharp synchronized choreography decisively tilted the momentum in his favor.
Toward the end of the stage, mothers with an average age of 80 appeared and danced together. When it was revealed that they were neighbors from the community where Lee Do-jin actually lives, it added a warm resonance at the venue and drew rave reviews as a stage that bridged generations.
The result was overwhelming. With a Pro panel score of 11:4 and a National pro panel score of 131:69, Lee Do-jin pulled far ahead to seal the win and advanced directly to the third main round. It was the outcome of capturing stage planning, performance, and even audience response all at once.
Then, in the third main-round National Song Showdown, Lee Do-jin formed the ‘Simkuungdan’ team and, together with Moon Eun-seok, Kim Tae-ung, Son Eun-seol, and Kim Han-yul, entered the first-round team medley match. The Jang Yoon-jung ‘It Has Come, It Has Come’ stage was unveiled first, signaling a powerful start, and anticipation is mounting for the next Simkuungdan performance and for what kind of dramatic medley will strike viewers at home.
Three years ago, Lee Do-jin was diagnosed with hearing loss and vocal cord nodules, but he overcame them through passion and determination for music. Since taking on the ‘Unknown Legends’ stage, he has made his presence felt in every round, building his own narrative. Expectations are growing for the upward momentum of Lee Do-jin after he crafted a definitive victory in the 1:1 death match.
