The ‘30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’ (Executive Director Shin Chul, hereafter BIFAN) announced that Programmer Nam Jong-seok has been appointed as a juror for the feature film section of the Overlook Film Festival (The Overlook Film Festival).
Celebrating its 10th edition this year, the Overlook Film Festival will be held in New Orleans, USA, for four days starting on April 9, and has established itself as one of the premier genre film festivals in North America.
Programmer Nam Jong-seok will join Vera Drew (Vera Drew) and Jen Yamato (Jen Yamato) on the feature competition jury at the festival this year to decide the ‘Grand Jury Prize(Grand Jury Prize)’ and the ‘Scariest Film(Scariest Film)’, and will also select one ‘Honorable Mention(Honorable Mention)’ in each category.
Since 1997, Programmer Nam Jong-seok has worked with the Busan International Film Festival and served as Secretary General of the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC). Since joining BIFAN in 2007, he has been active as a juror and selection committee member at leading genre film festivals worldwide, including FanPitch at Sitges in Spain and Ventana Sur Fantastic! in Argentina, strengthening his international stature as a leading Korean genre film expert.
Regarding his appointment as a juror at the Overlook Film Festival, Programmer Nam Jong-seok stated, “I am very pleased to participate as a juror in the Overlook Film Festival, which excites genre fans around the world, and I plan to explore new visions of contemporary genre cinema through this evaluation”.
The 30th BIFAN, where Programmer Nam Jong-seok serves as the programmer for Western-region films and industry, will take place across Bucheon from July 2 to July 12.
