The popular pair, 20th-class Young-sik and 25th-class Young-ja from ‘Solo Guesthouse - One More Special’, ignited after just one date.
On the SBS Plus and ENA broadcast of “I Am SOLO: Love Continues” (hereafter ‘Nasolsa-gye’) on the 9th (Thu), a scene unfolded in which 10 single men and women faced mixed fortunes with their second date selections.
On the morning of day two at ‘Solo Guesthouse’, 17th-class Soon-ja stood side by side with 27th-class Young-cheol doing the dishes. Seeing this, 20th-class Young-sik hovered anxiously around them. After finishing the dishes, 17th-class Soon-ja stepped outside, where 18th-class Young-ho, who happened to be passing by, nagged, “Do not wear clothes like a granny.” Watching this, 20th-class Young-sik said, “Let us stay as far away from the other guys as possible; let us go for a walk,” and led 17th-class Soon-ja away. He then asked, “Are you going to change later?” and 17th-class Soon-ja hesitated, saying, “The guys told me to wear something more feminine.” At that, 20th-class Young-sik, a bit jealous, said, “You are not going to date those guys, are you?” In a subsequent interview with the production team, he confided, “18th-class Young-ho told 17th-class Soon-ja that she wore ‘grandma clothes’, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so I thought, ‘as long as she looks pretty to me, that is enough.’ My feelings for 17th-class Soon-ja seem to be growing from 70% to a bit more.”
27th-class Young-cheol also asked 17th-class Soon-ja to talk. He said, “The more we talk, the more attractive you feel,” and asked, “Are you now down to about two people? Am I the one who will be tossed aside?” 17th-class Soon-ja replied cryptically, “It is a secret, but no,” and 27th-class Young-cheol pressed, “Are you going to keep me on the hook?” 17th-class Soon-ja answered, “I would never string anyone along. I need a bit more time.”
The second date selection proceeded as a ‘simultaneous selection’. First the single women made their date choices, and at night the single men chose. 17th-class Soon-ja surprised everyone by picking 27th-class Young-cheol rather than 20th-class Young-sik. She explained, “I chose 27th-class Young-cheol because I wanted to avoid a many-to-one date.” 27th-class Young-cheol laughed, saying, “I have been on the ‘all jjajang’ (solitude set meal) until now, so being chosen for the first time feels great.” Meanwhile, 20th-class Young-sik, who had hoped to date 17th-class Soon-ja, smiled wryly. 24th-class Soon-ja and 25th-class Soon-ja both chose 18th-class Young-ho, and 25th-class Young-ja, who had become the ‘top pick’ of 13th-class Sang-cheol, 15th-class Young-cheol, 18th-class Young-ho, and 27th-class Young-cheol, chose 20th-class Young-sik, earning the good fortune of a ‘1:1 date’. Lastly, 27th-class Hyun-sook chose 13th-class Sang-cheol. As a result, only 15th-class Young-cheol ended up eating the solitude set meal two times in a row.
Once the date selection ended, 20th-class Young-sik went to the women’s room and said, “25th-class Young-ja, let us go eat something delicious,” beginning to discuss the menu. At this moment, 24th-class Soon-ja teased 20th-class Young-sik, “How does it feel to be dumped by all the women who chose you yesterday?” With his pride pricked, 20th-class Young-sik forced a calm face and replied, “I am very grateful. In the end, I will meet all five.” Amid the curious tension, 20th-class Young-sik seated 25th-class Young-ja in his car and headed to a restaurant. On the way, he leaned toward 25th-class Young-ja, saying, “You have something on your face,” and brushed off some dust with his hand. 25th-class Young-ja froze, and the 3 MCs Defconn, Kyungri, and Yoon Bomi were vicariously excited by 20th-class Young-sik’s touch-flirting, exclaiming, “It is going wild!” Then, at the restaurant, the two showed seamless tiki-taka by doing a role-play as server and customer, and 25th-class Young-ja kept flashing her signature eye-smile, heating up the mood.
By contrast, the date between 27th-class Young-cheol and 17th-class Soon-ja was tinged with awkwardness. 17th-class Soon-ja showed low energy with little conversation. Then she opened up, “Do men usually date younger women? I used to have high self-esteem, but after entering my thirties, I have developed a fear of getting older.” 27th-class Young-cheol said, “Men are surprisingly simple. If she is pretty, they date,” and asked, “Now that we have met outside, what do you think of me?” 17th-class Soon-ja complimented him, saying, “You speak better than I expected.” 27th-class Young-cheol joked, “Am I among the two men you like? The other one must be the ‘tofu man’ (20th-class Young-sik).” After the date, 17th-class Soon-ja confessed to the production team, “The conversation was comfortable and nice, but it felt more like a friend than a lover. Thinking it over, when I talked with 20th-class Young-sik in the morning, I was shy about making eye contact, and I realized that was because the romantic pull was strong. I only felt that after going on a date with 27th-class Young-cheol.”
Meanwhile, riding the high from his tiki-taka with 25th-class Young-ja, 20th-class Young-sik suggested, “Let us go have some beer later.” 25th-class Young-ja pouted, “After you drink with that woman (the single woman 20th-class Young-sik chose for the ‘simultaneous selection’ date)?” Then she offered a flattering tease, “Why is your nose bridge so high?” She went further, saying, “Your face looks like a baby, but you have a lot of hair,” grabbed 20th-class Young-sik’s arm, and patted it. Faced with 25th-class Young-ja’s unhesitating skinship, 20th-class Young-sik blushed, and soon after he told the production team, “I think my head malfunctioned about what to do. It was not entirely unpleasant, but it felt awkward to tell her, ‘do not do that.’ I panicked because I did not know how to respond to the skinship.” Near the end of the meal, 25th-class Young-ja tried to use a lint roller to remove dust from her clothes, but 20th-class Young-sik asked, “You probably do not need to do that now. Is there someone you want to look good for?” To this, 25th-class Young-ja replied, “You!” making 20th-class Young-sik’s heart flutter. After that, the two linked arms even as they got into the car back to the lodging, exchanged sweet looks, and raised the ‘flutter index’.
After the date, 25th-class Young-ja told the production team, “It really felt like we were in a flirting phase. I want to talk more with 20th-class Young-sik.” In the following teaser, she declared war to 17th-class Soon-ja: “I have now decided on 20th-class Young-sik.” 17th-class Soon-ja’s expression turned serious, and curiosity mounted over how the love rectangle involving 27th-class Young-cheol would unfold.
