A person who claims to be the perpetrator in the killing of the late Director Kim Chang-min appeared directly on a YouTube broadcast and conveyed an apology to the bereaved family, drawing attention. However, regarding the recent controversy over the release of a hip-hop track, he offered an explanation bordering on sophistry, and public outrage is expected.
On the 9th, the YouTube channel ‘Karakula Detective Office’ posted a video titled ‘I am the murderer of Director Kim Chang-min.’ The video shows the perpetrator, the party to the case, sitting directly in front of the camera with a grave expression and confessing his state of mind.
The perpetrator repeatedly bowed his head, saying, “As the perpetrator and a party to the case involving the late Director Kim Chang-min, I am so sorry to the late Director Kim Chang-min and to the bereaved family of the victim, and I would like to offer my apologies.” He continued, “I am so sorry. Truly, nothing comes to mind except to say that I am sorry, and I am really, truly sorry.”

He also expressed his devastated feelings to the bereaved family, adding, “I truly understand the sorrow of having lost a son, and I am so sorry because there is nothing I can say except that I am sorry.”
However, the solemn mood flipped sharply as the host continued with questions. Pointing out that the perpetrator recently released a track and is drawing the ire of netizens, the host asked, “It seems a great many people are outraged because of talk that you released a track now. How did this come about? Please tell us.”
In response, the perpetrator argued that the track had been planned since before the incident occurred. He explained the background of the release, saying, “I had been preparing since last year, before the incident happened, and it was to express a first-love story in hip-hop.”
In particular, what drew public attention was the perpetrator’s absurd stage name. In response to the criticism of why the singer’s name had to be ‘Culprit,’ which seems to mean a criminal, he gave the rather off-the-wall answer, “I was born in 1994, the Year of the Dog. But I was told I generally match well with the Year of the Tiger, so I also have a tiger tattoo.” This is interpreted as an excuse that it meant ‘tiger’ (beom), rather than a word that evokes his horrific crime.
Toward the end of the video, the host asked those present at the interview, “Among the three of you here now, is there anyone who has engaged in organized crime?” The companion on the left said, “I have.”
The YouTuber Karakula said, “In a follow-up video to be uploaded soon, I plan to reveal the full account of the interview process, including the real hidden reason they sought me out and the perpetrators’ ugly true faces, carelessly blurted out when they thought the camera was off.”
