KBS1 ‘Gugak Hanmadang’ Episode 1559

At 12:10 p.m. on the 11th, Episode 1559 of KBS1’s ‘Gugak Hanmadang’ will offer a chance to encounter ‘Arirang’, which the world has spotlighted through BTS, in a new reinterpretation.

This week, ‘Gugak Hanmadang’ has prepared a colorful array of music, song, and dance that lets viewers savor the mood of a beautiful spring day.

It announces the lively start of spring with ‘Seodo Sori Group Hanga’s ‘Seodo Seonsori Santaryeong’ and ‘Gumbe Taryeong, Tujeon Puli’, delivered through joyful dance moves and sogo play.

Then come Jeon Byung-hun’s creative japga ‘Daehan Yuramga’, which conveys travels throughout Korea; Jeong Bo-gwon’s ‘An excerpt from Chunhyangga: Bangja Goes to Bring Chunhyang’, capturing the thrill of Gwanghallu steeped in spring; and Ahn Sang-hwa (head of DanceMua)’s ‘Park Byeong-cheon-style Jindo Bukchum’, presenting a spring day’s pungnyu to enjoy alongside our traditional arts.

This broadcast also features a stage to newly encounter our folk song ‘Arirang’, which has once again drawn attention this spring thanks to BTS’s new album.

Prof. Kang Hyo-ju of Ewha Womans University’s Department of Korean Music joins with Lee Ji-hye, a lead member of the National Gugak Center’s Creative Orchestra, whose 25-string gayageum performance blends with dignified Gyeonggi sori to present an ‘Arirang Suite’ weaving Gu Arirang, Bonjo Arirang, and Haeju Arirang into one.

They plan to offer viewers the hope and warmth of the new spring, carried on the melody of ‘Arirang’ that has moved the world.

‘Gugak Hanmadang’ Episode 1559, ‘Pungnyu of a Spring Day’, where you can experience the spring atmosphere and a special ‘Arirang’, will air for 55 minutes on KBS1 from 12:10 p.m. on April 11.
