TV Chosun ‘SeokSam Play Season 1’
Ji Seok-jin, Jeon So-min, Lee Sang-yeob, and Lee Mi-joo face a crisis of blowing their budget from the very first trip.
Premiering on the evening of the 11th, TV Chosun’s new variety program “SeokSam Play Season 1” is a mission-style travel reality show where they must visit 10 cities on just $750 (1,000,000 KRW). Ji Seok-jin, Jeon So-min, Lee Sang-yeob, and Lee Mi-joo, the “SeokSam Family,” are set to show off their variety skills while introducing Korea’s hidden beauty.
Episode 1 features the members with a travel budget of $750 (1,000,000 KRW) in hand. When they find out it’s the total budget for all 10 cities, they fall into a collective meltdown, saying, “What do we do?” and “Isn’t that too much?” However, as soon as talk turns to Namhansanseong’s specialtieswhole chicken soup and grilled deodeokLee Mi-joo declares, “We’ve got $750 (1,000,000 KRW) today,” hinting at a big splash. Joining in, Ji Seok-jin and Lee Sang-yeob say, “What’s life, anyway?” and “You spend a bit on the first day,” and the members switch into ‘Flex mode’, signaling a precarious start to their spending spree.
Properly intoxicated by the taste of money, the “SeokSam Family” finally get a chance to replenish their funds. At G-Stadium in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, a fateful dice game with stakes begins. It’s a chance to earn bonus travel money, but because all winnings are confiscated if the die lands on 4, a brutal rule, taut tension fills the air. As the members even resort to tricks to snatch every last bit and the production staff try to fend them off, an unprecedented situation unfolds when a stunned Lee Sang-yeob storms out of the set after seeing an unexpected result. Whether they can break through the production team’s ironclad defense and safely secure additional activity funds is sending curiosity to its peak.
Jeon So-min draws attention by revealing the behind-the-scenes story that she had tried to set up a blind date between Lee Mi-joo and her ‘true friend’ Choi Daniel. Saying that she had pursued a private meeting but the timing didn’t work out, Jeon vows to set the stage properly this time, burning with unusual enthusiasm. With Ji Seok-jin and Lee Sang-yeob joining in, they launch the ‘Operation: Make the Youngest a Boyfriend’, and the older brother-and-sister figures start meddling in everything one by one, from lighting setup to menu selection. Their overzealous fuss even leads to ‘unauthorized table-joining’, and Lee Mi-joo’s date, once full of excitement, faces the risk of being halted. Whether Lee Mi-joo and Choi Daniel’s pushed-into blind date can reach a rosy ending is expected to be an unmissable highlight of the premiere.
The production team said, “ ‘SeokSam Play Season 1’ will add a ‘budget mission structure’ to the familiar situation of travel, making the relationships among the cast stand out even more,” and added, “The various sides that members with different dispositions will show within the missions will bring big laughs on weekend evenings, so please give us lots of interest.”
