SBS ‘Shin I-rang Law Office’

Esom delivered a blend of sweet and bittersweet in Shin I-rang Law Office.

In the SBS Friday Saturday drama that aired on the 10th, a special yet heartrending story of Han Na-hyun (played by Esom) and her older sister Han So-hyun (played by Hwang Boreum-byeol) unfolded.

After a tearful reunion with her sister, Han Na-hyun spent a joyful time at an amusement park. The time together that returned after so long briefly filled them with happiness; however, a sudden downpour once again forced the two to face a parting. Unable to touch her sister or speak to her, Han Na-hyun felt her sorrow quietly grow.

Thanks to a miracle made possible with the help of Shin I-rang (played by Yoo Yeon-seok), they shared small everyday moments and, by carrying out the bucket list her sister had made one item at a time, slowly built belated memories. Yet faced with the reality that nothing was possible without Shin I-rang, Han Na-hyun finally burst into tears, and the sight of her muffling her sobs with her hand moved viewers deeply.

Meanwhile, Han Na-hyun also resolved a deep misunderstanding with her parents. Struggling to return home to grant her sister wish, she came to face a long-standing conflict with her mother. Having lived under the weight of guilt that her sister died because of her, she finally let out long suppressed tears at the apology and warm sincerity from her mother, and they embraced each other.

Elsewhere, the farewell to her sister became a major turning point in the life of Han Na-hyun. Though the parting came with no time to prepare her heart and she struggled to control her emotions, she sent her sister off after exchanging final goodbyes. Receiving comfort from Shin I-rang, who stayed by her side, Han Na-hyun found the strength to live resolutely again.

Esom delicately portrayed the intricate shifts in Han Na-hyun psychology, sustaining immersion in the drama. From a longing that could not be reached, through self reproach, to fleeting happiness and the final parting, she densely layered a complex inner world and delivered a deep resonance, and her restrained acting, woven throughout, was more than enough to draw praise from viewers.

In addition, growth in her relationship with Shin I-rang shown at the end of the episode created a tender mood within the poignancy and previewed a love line, bringing a flutter of excitement. As Han Na-hyun and Shin I-rang have become naturally closer by being sources of strength for each other, how their warmly joined hands will affect their cooperation ahead can be confirmed in ‘Shin I-rang Law Office’, which airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m.
