Who will take the last ticket to the final showdown of ‘The Firsts’?

In episode 9 of MBC’s audition final showdown ‘The Firsts’, airing tonight (the 12th) at 10 p.m., singers will engage in a desperate struggle to seize the single remaining ticket to advance to the ‘final showdown’. With elimination awaiting anyone who fails to lift the trophy tonight, they step onto the stage with graver determination than ever.

This round will decide the ultimate winner through a cumulative voting system that adds today’s second-round results to the first-round scores. Son Seung-yeon claimed first place in the first round to gain an edge, but for the second round, the Eardrum panel has increased by 100, setting the total at 401, creating an opening for a come-from-behind reversal. Confronted with the major variable of 401 votes, the singers take the stage while holding on to hope.

In particular, following the first-round results, Kim Ki-tae, who is sitting near the top just 18 votes behind the leader Son Seung-yeon, is gathering momentum. Kim says, “I make it to first place and then end up dropping again; it is truly maddening,” venting the frustration of repeatedly falling just short at the threshold of first place. He continues, “It has been a long time since I felt this desperate to sing,” revealing a strong resolve to make the final showdown.

‘Master of comebacks’ Ahn Sung-hoon also aims for a miracle. Recalling past audition experiences, he cautiously hints at recreating one: “Back then, too, I had never ranked first in any round, but I came from behind at the end.” Park Ji-min and Lee Ye-ji likewise burn with resolve, saying, “We will overturn the result.”
