“Pinky Up (PINKY UP)”. As the global girl group KATSEYE under HYBE-Geffen Records raised their little finger (pinky), music fans who had gathered from around the world became one and went wild. This was at the site of the largest music festival in the United States, which draws about 300,000 participants every year. A surprise collaboration stage with Huntrix (HUNTR/X) also received favorable reviews.
On the 11th (Korean time), KATSEYE took to the Sahara Stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, hereafter, ‘Coachella’)’ in Indio, California, USA. They opened with the newly released single ‘PINKY UP’ from the day before and drove through about 45 minutes with a total of 11 songs and a dance break. The KATSEYE members were moved, saying, “We cannot believe we have finally come to ‘Coachella’. A swirl of emotions is upon us. You are making our dream a reality.”
The overwhelming energy of KATSEYE filled the venue. Every stage was a highlight. Songs across genresincluding ‘Debut’, ‘Gameboy’, ‘Internet Girl’, ‘Gabriela’, and ‘Gnarly’were colored by the crowd’s ‘mass sing-along’. The audience sang along with the lyrics and swayed to the beat. It was not only about splendor. The members delivered an inspiring message“We support you who go your own way and have the courage not to go only as others tell you”as they presented ‘My Way’ on stage.
The showstopper was the surprise collaboration stage. A meeting was realized between two teams that started in K-pop and are expanding their global influence in their respective realms. The real members of the virtual girl group ‘Huntrix’ from ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ (Rei Ami, Audrey Nuna, and Lee Jae) appeared and staged a joint performance of ‘GOLDEN’ with KATSEYE. In this stage, arranged at a slightly slower tempo than the original to highlight the melody, KATSEYE members met eyes with Huntrix, stacked harmonies, and left a deep afterglow.
