MBN ‘Legend of the Unknowns - The Hierarchy War of Trot Men’
‘Legend of the Unknowns - The Hierarchy War of Trot Men’ (hereafter, ‘Legend of the Unknowns’) opened the third main-round ‘National Song Battle’, with tickets to the semifinals on the line.
According to ratings agency Nielsen Korea on the 16th, episode 8 of the MBN program ‘Legend of the Unknowns’, aired on the 15th, peaked at 8.285% among pay TV households. It has held the top spot among Wednesday variety shows for eight consecutive weeks, remaining No.1 in its time slot and across general-programming channels.
It also ranked No.1 on the Non-Drama TV-OTT Search Response Top 10 for the second week of April, announced by Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex. In the Non-Drama Search Issue Keywords Top 10, cast category, Kim Han-yul (No.7), Seongri (No.8), and Irune (No.9) made the list.
That day’s broadcast kicked off Round 3 of the main competition, the ‘National Song Battle’. Round 3 totals scores from Round 1, ‘Team Medley’, and Round 2, ‘Top Ace Match’, to determine who advances to the semifinals. The Top Pro Panel scores 0 to 100 per member, and the People Pro Panel awards 1 point per member, for a total of 1,200 possible points. The entire first-place team advances directly to the semifinals, and all others become elimination candidates.
Opening ‘Team Medley’, the ‘Yeonho-ne Jinppong Masterpieces’ team led by Jeong Yeon-ho performed a medley of classics by Kim Jin-ryong and scored 871 points from the Top Pro Panel.
Next, the ‘Simkuwoong-dan’ team led by Kim Tae-woong faced off against the ‘Haru All Day’ team led by Haru with Jang Yoon-jeong medleys, and Haru All Day took a commanding first place with 956 points from the Top Pro Panel. The ‘Sing-along Republic’ team assembled by Lee Chang-min attempted a Jeon Young-rok medley and closely followed in second with 937 points from the Top Pro Panel.
The ‘Romance with Ji-woo’ team put together by Yoo Ji-woo played a bold card by fielding only contestants from the ‘Unknown tier’. With a medley of classics by Choi Baek-ho, it placed near the top with 928 points from the Top Pro Panel.
At the end of the broadcast, a special stage by Choi Baek-ho, participating as a National Singer, moved not only the famous and unknown contestants but also the People Pro Panel and the Top Pro Panel, fully demonstrating the dignity of a maestro.
With ‘Team Medley’ revealing Top Pro Panel scores by team and fortunes splitting, the unrevealed People Pro Panel scores and the ‘Top Ace Match’ are emerging as additional variables for survival.
Round 2 of the third main round, the ‘Top Ace Match’, will air at 9:40 p.m. on the 22nd.
