Creator Tzuyang, who is expanding her presence as a broadcaster, is coming to the small screen with a new kind of culinary variety show.
The producers said on the 17th that the variety program ‘How Many Meals, Tzuyang’, co-produced by ENA, Kstar, and NXT, will premiere in May.
‘How Many Meals, Tzuyang’ is an observational variety show that captures the struggles of so-called ‘meok-baraji’ who must keep serving food until Tzuyang feels full. The show began with Tzuyang’s confession that, due to the constraints of conventional broadcast filming environments, she could not eat enough and was always hungry. Accordingly, the production team set the program’s ultimate goal as continuing until Tzuyang is completely full.
Tzuyang boasts an exceptional capacity, easily clearing 20 servings of pork belly or more than 100 plates of conveyor-belt sushi in a single sitting. Even after putting away large quantities, she starts to feel hungry again in just 10 minutes, thanks to a vigorous metabolism.
Attention is focused on the role of the ‘meok-baraji’, who must accommodate such an appetite. The production team recruited people with ties to each filming location at home and abroad, or with deep knowledge of local circumstances, to build optimal routes.
The ‘meok-baraji’ will roam various landmarks with Tzuyang, taking charge of the overall task of arranging food, including spontaneously booking restaurants that represent each locale. A key viewing point will be how they respond to Tzuyang’s dining style, which favors eating frequently while moving from place to place rather than consuming large amounts in one spot.
The producers said, “We wanted to present a new variety show by adding the variable of unpredictable situations within the broad framework of travel and mukbang.”
