Singer Seo In-young opened up about the difficult period she went through with panic disorder and symptoms of paralysis following the ‘profanity controversy’.
On the 17th, the official SNS for tvN ‘You Quiz on the Block’ released a preview clip for the episode airing on the 22nd. The video contains Seo In-young’s candid confession about the hard time she endured due to panic disorder and depression, along with the story of the family who stayed by her side.
That day, Yoo Jae-suk said, “At that time, you were not in a state to manage and control yourself emotionally in many ways, so your family came, watched over you, and poured their energy into getting you back on your feet,” referring to the situation.
Seo In-young responded, “I often collapsed because I had many panic attacks, paralysis, and convulsions. You should not drink in those times, but back then, when you want to forget, is it not that alcohol helps?” recalling the difficult period. She added, “Taking medication and drinking on top of it made it the worst.”

She expressed her remorse toward her family, especially her younger sister. Seo In-young said, “Because I was often lying there after collapsing, my younger sister lived those years with constant anxiety,” and continued, “She had to live under the same profanity controversy, carrying what I had caused on top of her in the same way. For my sister, life must not have felt like life.”
She went on, “If she could not reach me, she would immediately rush over. Then she would find me collapsed, again collapsed, lift me and move me to the bed, and I would not remember. When paralysis came, she would massage me,” conveying how precarious the situation was and stirring sympathy.
She continued, “I could not even go to the hospital. If word spread, would that not be so embarrassing? What did I do well to deserve anything? So I feel very sorry to my sister. And grateful,” trailing off.
At the end of the video, a letter from her younger sister to Seo In-young was revealed. The sister wrote, “Hello, my dear older sister? It has been 40 years since we were born as sisters. There have been so many things, but because we were together, those years were a comfort. To me, you are a seven-year-old mischievous child, a friend, and like a mother,” and as she read it, Seo In-young eventually burst into tears.
