Tokyo Dome in Japan was suffused with the melody of the Korean folk song ‘Arirang’. A mass sing-along of ‘Arirang’ by local audiences at the BTS world tour created an unforgettable scene that will go down in concert history.
BTS successfully wrapped the ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN TOKYO’ at Tokyo Dome on the 17-18. This marked their return to Tokyo Dome for the first time in seven years and five months since November 2018 and ‘BTS WORLD TOUR LOVE YOURSELF ~JAPAN EDITION~’. Both dates sold out early, and 110,000 spectators filled the seats over the two days.
Fans waved their light sticks in perfect unison, making for a striking spectacle. During ‘Not Today’ and ‘MIC Drop’, thunderous chants erupted and filled Tokyo Dome. The pinnacle came with the stage for ‘Body to Body’, a track on the new release ‘Arirang’ (ARIRANG). When the melody of the Korean folk song ‘Arirang’ woven into this song rang out, everyone sang along to ‘Arirang’ in unison. Earlier, Chairman Bang Si-hyuk had predicted that an ‘Arirang’ crowd sing-along echoing through overseas venues would become the most ‘iconic moment’ of this tour. The members could not hide expressions of elation, as if engraving the voices of the audience in their hearts.

The audience sang every lyric of the global hits ‘Butter’ and ‘Dynamite’ without missing a word. As the sing-along layered over BTS vocals, the energy of the show grew even hotter. In the ‘random song’ segment, where they spontaneously perform older tracks, they brought out ‘Crystal Snow’ from their eighth Japanese single released in 2017 and ‘FOR YOU’ from their fourth Japanese single released in 2015. As Japanese-language originals for local fans, they left a deep afterglow throughout the stands. The members roamed every corner of the stage, making eye contact with people, and repeatedly said, “It has been such a long time since we sang this. It feels so good.”
BTS delivered most of their remarks fluently in the local language and conveyed sincerity by reading letters they had carefully written. “Even though it has been a long time since we last met, you responded with the same cheers and smiles, and we are leaving even more energized. We missed you,” they said. They added, “We often come to Tokyo on trips, and as we walk the streets, we think, so this is the scenery you live with. We are truly very happy and honored to be able to come back. And we are happy. Thank you for waiting until now, and we love you sincerely.”
Having successfully concluded the Tokyo dates in Japan, BTS will move on to the United States to continue the tour. They are scheduled to meet local fans at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on April 25-26 and 28.
