Fashion magazine ‘Harper’s BAZAAR’ Korea has released a photoshoot and interview that highlight the romantic chemistry between actors Kim Go-eun and Kim Jae-won.
The two actors, who teamed up in the TVING original series ‘Yumi’s Cells Season 3’, naturally captured the thrill of spring in this shoot, faithfully recreating the vibe of the drama’s two leads. This season tells the story that unfolds as Yumi, who has achieved her dream of becoming a writer, meets supervising PD Shin Sun-rok.

■Kim Jae-won “I adapted on set thanks to Kim Go-eun’s consideration… I learned a lot from her attitude toward acting”
In this project, Kim Jae-won, who plays Yumi’s final boyfriend, Shin Sun-rok, expressed deep trust in his senior, Kim Go-eun. In the interview, he said, “At our first meeting, Go-eun suggested we speak casually, which helped us become close quickly,” adding, “On set, there was a considerate atmosphere that accepted 100% of my ideas, and I was grateful for that. I learned a lot from the way she approaches acting.”

Regarding the casting of the character ‘Shin Sun-rok’, which drew great expectations from fans of the original, he likened it to “becoming the boyfriend brought home by a dearly loved daughter and feeling all the family’s eyes on me,” and added, “There was pressure about the unicorn-like younger-man image, but I approached the role with a pleasant sense of responsibility.”
■Kim Go-eun “Yumi is the start of my thirties… a work filled with life’s delicate points of empathy”
Kim Go-eun, who has led the long journey since Season 1, revealed a special affection for the character ‘Yumi’. She recalled, “Yumi is the beginning of my thirties and the person who accompanied me into the second chapter of my life,” adding, “Within the charming setup of communicating with cells, I liked that we could discover the finer elements of empathy in our lives.”

She continued, “In this Season 3, it captures the subtle everyday emotions felt by women in their mid-to-late thirties. For me as well, acting while growing older together with Yumi was an enjoyable experience,” and said, “It is meaningful to have safely wrapped up a season-based drama, which is rare in Korea.”
Regarding her chemistry with junior actor Kim Jae-won, she said, “Having worked with the director for a long time, I tried to approach Jae-won like a comfortable friend so he wouldn’t feel out of place on set,” showing her dependable side as a senior.
