The group B1A4 will go big for its ‘14th debut anniversary’.
B1A4, which released its first album on April 21, 2011, has returned exactly 15 years later, on the 21st, with the 15th-anniversary album ‘SET’(Set).
B1A4’s 9th mini album ‘SET’ will be released at 6 p.m. today on various music platforms. Even amid April’s comeback-and-debut rush, often called a star-studded lineup, they did not delay the release schedule; this was possible thanks to the determination of the three members, Shinwoo, Sandeul, and Gongchan, to spend April 23, which marks their 15th anniversary, together with fans.
The title track ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors’ is a dance-pop song that layers a rhythmic bass, lively synthesizers, and groovy drums with an energetic hook, capturing B1A4’s uniquely playful sensibility. Centered on the message ‘Better than one is two, and better than two is three’, the song portrays the moment when people naturally connect through the simplest game, offering an addictive appeal that anyone can enjoy and become immersed in within a free-spirited atmosphere.
‘CPR’ is a medium-tempo pop song where stylish synth sounds, a smooth melody, and an arrangement that builds step by step come together, depicting the ‘you’ who makes emotions and time that had stopped begin to beat again. In a breathless moment, the two become CPR for one another and set the heart beating again; its romantic lyrics that evoke cinematic scenes and delicate vocal expression blend to deliver a lingering resonance and immersion.
The B-side ‘Colors on me’ is a medium-tempo pop song that combines a gentle melody and stylish synth sounds, delicately portraying the feeling of gradually becoming dyed in a loved one’s colors. Centered on the message ‘Your colors on me’, it captures the process by which every moment in daily life becomes filled with the other person.
‘5959’ is a pop track based on an upbeat rhythm and bright synth sound that cheerfully unfolds the flutter and freedom of the moment one falls in love. Centered on the repetitive hook ‘5959’, it expresses in music the moments when the two, immersed in a world of their own, sense each other without a word.
The B-side ‘This Star’ is a ballad where a lyrical melody and emotive arrangement intertwine, conveying deep feelings that cannot let go of the other even at the moment of parting. Beyond lyrical description and the wordplay likening ‘This Star’ to ‘Farewell’, it captures the vocal essence of the three members.
Meanwhile, to mark the comeback, B1A4 will, in addition to this week’s music-show activities, hold a public concert on May 2 at the Yebitseom outdoor stage. By presenting hit songs from the past 15 years alongside new tracks, they will announce the return of the act once beloved by elementary-schoolers. Not only the B1A4 fan club BANA, recruited through the official site, but also citizens visiting the Han River over the Family Month holiday will be offered, free of charge, a set that encapsulates 15 years of B1A4 activity.
